............

It is sad that many a times the most obvious things run by unnoticed, thanks to a past that just refuses to let go...

One step forward, three steps backward. Got to live with it.

Chinese..

Since the past 6 months, i've searched high and low, spoke to every goddamned Chinese restaurant in town to check if they had home delivery and failed at it.

While driving back home this afternoon, noted the number of a delivery van... and having got off the phone, tonight's menu is Chicken fried noodles, sweet corn soup, veggie spring rolls, rice and duck roast.

Sad that this discovery comes when I have just 6 days left to leave the island :(

Cheers!!

I thought I'd be back to blogsville a few lightyears down the line. Turns out that i'm back in just a few weeks. Don't know what brought me back, but i'm sure that unlike my previous blog this won't be just about work.

That was the whole point anyways... to strike a balance.

The past few weeks have been weirdly crazy. After more than a few months of trying to find a new job, the ups and downs, etc. things slowly fell in place. There were many a times when the question of what do I want hit my head. It always came down to two things. Money or a life. Somedays I would wake up totally convinced that money was everything and there were days when I felt miserably homesick. And yes the turmoil still continues.

One highlight that must be mentioned is the purchase of a new notebook. To be honest, I tried my best to sneak out my present one, but considering the fact that Elvis (my soon to be ex boss) is quite shrewd I wasn't able to keep this notebook or for that matter claim the bonus.

This sort of prompted me to 'do it' and as it goes with any of my purchases, spent close to a week and a half working out the expenses, savings and choosing the right model. With budget being a bit tight, especially at a crucial time of relocating, decided to choose the Dell D820. A few calls over the week finally led me to meet the sales guy.

My first look at D820 wasn't that good and with the more sleek and compact D420 sitting pretty next to it, the former looked like a giant. So after lots of negotiation and a final moment of flashing the cash to the sales guy was able to pick up the D420 less 150 quid. And yeh, I did walk out feeling high. Oh and that's not all, was also able to get a free 1 gig mini RS card for my E50. Money talks... case in point.

Ever since i've been drooling at my D420, and quite strangely... people are more focussed on the 420 part rather than anything else. /:)

With a good chunk of money spent on this, it wasn't too late for the guilt factor to set in. Thankfully, today's events made up for it. For starters... I felt stupid for taking two days off last week since I had close to 5 days of unclaimed leaves. Turns out that I was paid quite a huge sum per hour and yeah I did hit my head when I realized that I wasted a good two days. :(

So anyways, the silver lining was the fact that I had apparently paid a lot of tax in the past 11 months which made this last package totally tax free with some extra incentives. Not to forget I must go to the tax dept. tomorrow to collect a refund of 37 bucks.

The only thing left to worry about was the fees the professional cleaners would be charging who my owners insisted do the cleaning. After some frantic hours, got a call that they would bill me 50 quid for this. Boy oh boy!! Now i'm totally loving it.

So after two years of my stint here in Europe and despite Elvis hitting me below the belt, I still managed to walk out with my head held high and with a fat wallet. God, keep me safe until I reach home... no, keep my wallet safe instead.

In the beginning

There was me.
Then there was a blog.
The blog was closed.
I had a few rounds of whiskey.
And this blog was born.

Amen!!
