I came across this blog recently that is attempting to highlight the atrocities currently underway in Burma. I cannot vouch for the authenticity of the material but most news sites are also highlighting the blog and since very few media ppl have access to the country perhaps this is the only semi-accurate picture we are going to get

Its nearly sad that people expect China to assist in maintaining the human rights of the Burmese ppl when it is so ruthlessly crushing the human rights of the Tibetans.

nice blog and nice info there...keep up the gd work-spreading info abt issues of concern :) =)
tk cr
Yea partners in crime. China is no better. Know something when they wanted to take over Tibet China managed to kill close to a million budhist "monks" ** of all the people around ** These monks are a set of people who would even think 2 or 3 times before they hurt an insect. They become such a painless easy target :-( :-(
I was so shocked when I read about this and sadly so the same thing is happening in Burma too.
** shakes head in disgust and frowns **
That blog does appear to be legit. Anyone expecting China to do anything to encourage freedom at its border has to be dreaming. That nation values order over everything else.
Sadly India is culpable too by virtue of it's silence and all those deals for natural gas and other things it has in the works with the Burmese junta.
Just saw few videos in the blog and its the same old repetition of Tibetan uprising and Chinese brutality. How can they be a survivor? Thanks for sharing. I didn’t know much about it.
I hate politics of all sorts and I dun u'stand how Buddhist monks got into all those demonstrations!
Keshi.
Nice demonstration of the advantages of democracy: anyone may express his/her views on the issue here. Something that's denied to many people around the Globe...
Thanks for your visit to Blogtrotter. I'm still in Rhineland there!
Really sad when I think of what chinas did to the tibetians, now its the burmese.when is this going to end.I think the Dalai lama is visiting the white house this month I do hope something good comes out of this visit.
@ naren
thanks
@ vik
I think its sometimes incomprehensible for us to imagine that someone might not have a right to non violently protest or simply voice their opinion..
@ sanjay
I agree India hasnt been too big on reprimanding Myanmar either for fear of again either rocking its own precarious govt balance or upsetting china thus upsetting USA thus not really having a backbone etc...
@ pijush
yea.. I figured the least we can do is not let those fighting have their efforts be in vain or go unnoticed
@ keshi
freedom? freedom from oppression? think about how bad it had to get before they got up to protest?
@ gmg
yeah like i mentioned before its truly incomprehensible that something so basic as voicing your opinion is not allowed in so many places over the world.. we do take it for granted sometimes..
@ starry
I somehow doubt its going to be anything more then a photo-op.. China has too much leverage around the world for it to be anything else
Heyyylloo... Long time it's been.
Yep the Burma issue is quite a sad story, what was worse is the whole world sits by and watches the show go on.
Aditi, J,
Excuse me to rant this issue in your blog, the whole world watching this is because there are some riders for India through Junta in Burma. As a matter of fact US, UK were quite hopeful that India would commit to something with regards to the oppression and all that. India chose to remain silent. We have had agreed to get some stuff done through the Burma and the deal was inked and for it to survive the cause, India has to remain silent. Strange and funny is'nt it.
Oh well talking about choosing wrong partners for growth, that is how India chose Palestine (of all the countries !), just because Yasar Arafat was the minister of the state and the Congress was spineless then. Think about we actually showed our back to Israel and talk about time change when we were in deep shit during the war in the Kargil, Israel actually without thinking twice, sent it's air force contingent to back our cause !! Now we have a good relations with them and when I say relations it is not the "Hi, how are you sorts", but progressive and that is what each country should look for.
Wonder what we get out of a treaty from countries like Burma, Thailand, Indonesia, Phillipines etc which reply completely on the exchange from the US. Damn we end up supporting them.. Sometimes I feel all the ruling party has to do is to just use their heads to think and not their privates !! I feel I would have been a handsome politician :-) :-) May be not, I would have been sucked into the game theory.
Excuse my liberty to voice!
if the monks get out on the roads and start protesting - we know just HOW bad things must have become. its a sad world, this. and yet, one can only keep trying to do one's bit in possibly making things a little better...
I know that Aditi..but being a monk isnt abt that anyways.
Keshi.
It is really sad indeed & it was also more striking to note that India Is simply turning deaf ears to the atrocious human right violations!
u shud try for lead india woman.. next yr or whenever they decide to play the game again.. i'll vote for ya! :P.. alrt seriously u r firstly aware of too many things happening around, u r affected by them, do smthng dude.. me will cheer for u cz thts the best i can do.. apart from that am pretty much hopeless :P
