4th CISM Games

The 4th CISM Military World Games are about to begin in Hyderabad. CISM (International Military Sports council) has 127 members and more information can be found at their website here.

I am surprised at how much this event has been underplayed because I am barely finding out that 105 countries are going to be participating in a championship second only in magnitude to the Olympics in Hyderabad. Also, why I am sharing this piece of information with all of you.

I do hope that the event gets the publicity it deserves and we hear more from it in the coming days, not to mention that the Indian contingent wins a medal or two.

I also came to know about it in the morning only... I guess we don't hear about it is due unavailability of sponsors... And BTW, it's good to know that along with Hyderabad, Mumbai also is hosting 3 events - Oct 17 (Wed), Oct 19 (Fri) and Oct 21 (Sun)... Let's see if I could just see at least on of these....

I had no idea there were games like these. Thank you for the info. Do they have all the Olympic disciplines and does India as a host country get to showcase some of it's own sports?

Its always that cricket hogs the limelight and everythg else is shadowed ..hope india excels ..

@ mm
yeah...i agree

@ keshi
=)

@ pijush
well atleast in the sharp shooting competition we should win thanks to our olympic win

@ dust unsettled
didnt know when those were thanks for letting me know

@ dharmabum
or just really bad publicity which is finally waking up and spreading the meagre word simultaneously?

@ sanjay
I am sure neither nor is the case. Fairly sure that its not all the olympic games because the website seemed to list only a handful few. But its only the 4th time this event is being held so we should watch for it to fully grow and establish itself

@ backpakker
agreed

I also feel this event needs more publicity & with so much hoopla about cricket these games just remain in the sidelines...Thanks for sharing about the games!

its the corporates who need to push it. and to push it - we need to watch it. but we're too busy watching cricket no? mentally challenged that we are, running around chasing a leather ball in long pants.

sigh.
