Nevada Democrat Teachers Do Not Want To Count Every Vote

Via Memeorandum

Nevada’s state teachers union and six Las Vegas area residents filed a lawsuit late Friday that could make it harder for many members of the state’s huge hotel workers union to vote in the hotly contested Jan. 19 Democratic caucus in Nevada.

The 13-page lawsuit in federal district court here comes two days after the 60,000-member Culinary Workers Union Local 226 in Nevada endorsed Senator Barack Obama, a blow to Mrs. Clinton. Mr. Obama addressed the Culinary Union at their hall earlier Friday.

The lawsuit argues that the Nevada Democratic Party’s decision, decided late last year, to create at-large precincts inside nine Las Vegas resorts on caucus day violates the state’s election laws and creates a system in which voters at the at-large precincts can elect more delegates than voters at other precincts. The lawsuit employs a complex mathematical formula to show that voters at the other 1,754 precincts would have less influence with their votes.

Sounds more like Democrat whining and a violation of their “count every vote” mantra bullshit. But requiring picture ID to make it harder for people to vote illegally is strictly off the table with the progressive crowd.

Karl at Protein Wisdom: Clinton has long maintained that the caucus system disenfranchises certain types of voters. But altering the status quo in Nevada may be seen by others as an act of disenfranchisement also — and one from which Clinton may not be able to credibly distance herself.

Jeralyn at Talk Left: Which leaves the question, should one group of workers be given special voting privileges just because there are so many of them?

I don’t have an answer, but it does seem there is a problem.

Good point, but, if they were so worried about it being fair, they should have filed suit long ago.

Bad Movies - Dragon Wars + Best and Worst Vampire Movies

I made the unfortunate mistake of renting Dragon Wars. Wow! Bad! Really bad! How can someone screw up a movie about dragons? You would think it would be easy to make a good one. Nope. Terrible, simply terrible. Save your $4.50 plus tax to rent it.

This got me thinking, for some reason, about the best and worst vampire movies. Another type of movie that no one should be able to screw up. But, alas, some do.

Top 10 Vampire Movies (in no order)

  • Underworld (worth it for Kate Beckinsale in tight leather. Great movie, too)
  • Dracula (Bela Lugosi)
  • Dracula (1979 - with Frank Langella)
  • Bram Stoker’s Dracula (the one with cutie Winona Ryder)
  • Nosferatu (1922 - where it all really started with movies)
  • Blade: Trinity (yes, the other 2 are pretty darn good, but this one was tops, particularly with hottie Jessica Beil)
  • Van Helsing (again, Kate Beckinsale. Add Dracula, the Frankenstein Monster, and werewolves. Very watchable)
  • Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (Wolfman, The Monster, and Dracula. Lon Cheney. Bela Lugosi. All in a funny manner)
  • Love at First Bite (oh, come on, it was a very different, and humorous, look at Dracula)
  • Vampire Hunter D (Manga meets vampires)

Honorable mention: The Lost Boys, the first 2 Blade movies, Innocent Blood, Bordello of Blood, Fright Night, Blacula, Underword: Evolution, and The Return of Dracula (Lugosi).

Snarkarati has an interesting list. I’d put a bunch of the movies on the honorable mention list, though, I disagree with some, hence, 10 Worst Vampire films (again, no order)

  • From Dawn To Dusk (violence for violence sake. Bad language out the ying yang for no reason. And 2 bad sequals)
  • Blood Rayne (even a naked Kristanna Loken doesn’t elevate it. And don’t even get me started on the sequel)
  • Dracula 3000 (bad. Really bad. Even with babe Erika Elaniak it was horrible)
  • Queen of the Damned (stupid)
  • Interview with the Vampire (tedious. Worse then the book, which I slogged thru to see what the big deal was)
  • Dracula - Dead and Loving It (how can Mel Brooks screw up a vampire movie with Leslie Nielsen in it? He found a way)
  • Fright Night II (the first was good, the second, an abomination)
  • The Night Flier (screwed up a good vampire story by Stephen King)
  • Salems Lot (again, hosing a great Stephen King story)
  • Dracula 2000 (yikers!)

What’s your favorite vampire movie?

Hail The Moonbatus G’itmous!

Silly little creatures, one and all!

Eighty people were arrested at the Supreme Court yesterday in a protest calling for the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to be closed.

They were charged with violating an ordinance that prohibits demonstrations of any kind on the court’s grounds. Those arrested inside the building also were charged under a provision that makes it a crime to give “a harangue or oration” in the court building. The maximum penalty is 60 days in jail, a fine or both.

Hmm, too be honest, I’m not sure if I agree with those laws. Seems to violate the 1st regarding assembly and asking for redress. Of course, these are moonbats, so, they probably were not peaceable.

Surely, we will get to hear from the moonbats who weren’t there that the ones who were out there saving the constitution had nothing better to do then protest and get arrested are ”political prisoners of the facist Bushites.” Not a prediction, as moonbats are easy to understand.

Check out Jonn from This ain’t hell, but you can see it from here, who was there, and has some photos.

Hat tip Stop The ACLU.

Michelle Malkin has more.

Daily Kosbat Diarist-War Is a Competition

and…..(all from one paragraph)

War is viewed as a competition and, as theorized, Americans do not like to lose.

Well, duh. Americans do not like to lose. I am not including the Left as Americans, of course.

When it appears that the U.S. is losing a war (or not winning it quickly or impressively enough) it is the choice of many Americans to take their ball and go home. What the anti-war community needs to do is convince the majority of Americans that simply being forced to engage in a war—any war—is a defeat.

Like we were initially losing WWI, WWII, Korea, War of 1812, Union was lose the Civil War, and, oh, let’s not forget the War for Independence. Apparently, we should have taken our ball and gone home. We’d still be part of the English empire by Progressive standards. Just fighting for independence was apparently a defeat. Liberal World.

One need not count bodies or measure areas of land occupied by troops to determine “victory”. The fact that the U.S. is forced to expend lives and treasure in violent conflict with others should be viewed as a failure—a failure of American ideology or policy or diplomacy or execution.

Yup, the War of Independence was a failure. Let’s go and rejoin England as a colony (ps: I’m not bashing England, a great country, just pointing out)

If the U.S. were really doing everything the right way, we would not need to engage in military action against others—at least we would not be the ones initiating that action. Acts of violence are more likely to cause problems than to solve them, in addition to being far more costly than any other means of resolving a problem.

Do I need to go to the War for Indendence example again? We’ll take it as written.

Let’s all just gather around and sing Kumbaya, and that will suddenly make all the bad people in the world, such as the Islamics who would be happy to slit the throats of even the very Democrats who provide them with such great aid and comfort - not to mention talking points for their bash America video’s.

California Looks To Restrict More Freedom

I wonder if the ACLU will comment on what seems to be a violation of civil rights if this passes on January 30th. They pitch a fit over electronic surveillence of foreign nationals talking to Al Qaeda members, so, what about government controlling our homes?

The California Energy Commission has proposed requiring thermostats that allow the government to control the temperature of homes and businesses in case of high energy prices or shortages, a measure that some critics are calling “draconian.”

The proposed regulations would require all residential and non-residential buildings to have a Programmable Communicating Thermostat (PCT).

The regulations state that “all PCTs shall be distributed with a non-removable Radio Data System (RDS) communications device … which can be used by utilities to send price and emergency signals.” For price events, thermostats can be offset by up to four degrees, but “customers shall be able to change the offsets and thermostat settings at any time during price events.”

Upon receiving an emergency signal, “the PCT shall respond to commands contained in the emergency signal, including changing the setpoint by any number of degrees or to a specific temperature setpoint. The PCT shall not allow customer changes to thermostat settings during emergency events.”

Big Daddy State, anyone?

Understandably, California needs some measure to stop the brownouts and blackouts that plague that state. How about a few nuclear reactors? Or maybe the Hollywood set could limit their power usage in their McMansions.

At least no one has linked it to global warming. Yet.

Global Warming In Iraq (?)

Well, it must be, because, ya know, global warming makes it hot, cold, wet, dry….

After weathering nearly five years of war, Baghdad residents thought they’d pretty much seen it all. But Friday morning, as muezzins were calling the faithful to prayer, the people here awoke to something certifiably new.

For the first time in memory, snow fell across Baghdad.

Morning temperatures uncharacteristically hovered around freezing, and the Baghdad airport was closed because of poor visibility. Snow is common in the mountainous Kurdish areas of northern Iraq, but residents of the capital could remember just hail.

Viva la climate change!

TB Friday Featuring The Surrender Monkey: Paul Surrenders To Iran

Happy Friday to all! It’s that time of the week again! Do you have an interesting post you want to share with everyone? The official Surrender Monkey of the Democratic Party says to do what the Lefties don’t, since they all have the same talking points: link it!

Watching Ron Paul during the South Carolina debates, I gotta say, he reminds me of Mike Dukakis, both in look and in how he basically will surrender to every foreign foe. Let’s listen

Notice, it is all our fault, and he even mentions the Gulf of Tonkin. The guy is out-liberaling liberals. He has no clue regarding the dangers Iran and other countries can pose. Sure, Iran is a small country, but, in terms of military, they are the second best in the Middle East. They are a massive exporter of terrorism. And, as far as small boats vs a destroyer, perhaps Paul has forgotten the USS Cole. Or maybe not. He probably blames that on America.

Love the expressions on McCain’s face.

BTW, I use the video border for a reason.

Send a trackback to this post, but don’t forget to link it. Vote Fred!

GOP Debate

The more I hear Ron Paul speak, the more I think that, God forbid, he get the GOP nomination, I would vote for Hillary, Edwards, or B. Hussein Obama. Matter of fact, I know I would do that. Guy is a major league crank, conspiracy nut, and blame America first wacko.

Kos Kids Konglomerate Head Recommends Shady Voter Games

I do not think we can call this fraud, but, it is certainly shady and dishonest, which is interesting as it is always Libtards whining about voting issues. By the head Bat himself

With a history of meddling in our primaries, why don’t we try and return the favor. Next Tuesday, January 15th, Michigan will hold its primary. Michigan Democrats should vote for Mitt Romney, because if Mitt wins, Democrats win. How so?

For Michigan Democrats, the Democratic primary is meaningless since the DNC stripped the state of all its delegates (at least temporarily) for violating party rules. Hillary Clinton is alone on the ballot.

But on the GOP side, this primary will be fiercely contested. John McCain is currently enjoying the afterglow of media love since his New Hamsphire victory, while Iowa winner Mike Huckabee is poised to do well in South Carolina.

Meanwhile, poor Mitt Romney, who’s suffered back-to-back losses in the last week, desperately needs to win Michigan in order to keep his campaign afloat. Bottom line, if Romney loses Michigan, he’s out. If he wins, he stays in.

And we want Romney in, because the more Republican candidates we have fighting it out, trashing each other with negative ads and spending tons of money, the better it is for us. We want Mitt to stay in the race, and to do that, we need him to win in Michigan.

Again, nothing illegal, and not fraud, but certainly shady and dishonest. Essentially doing exactly what all the leftards have accused Republicans of doing for years.

He even has an email for all the KKKosbats to send to other barking moonbats. But don’t say they are lemmings, because, damnit! they are all free thinkers!

Of course, all the little Kosbats are eating it up, as are some DUmmies here and here. And they will be the first to whine like John Edwards before sending his wife out on the attack trail if the GOP did something similar. Or, like how they blame the GOP for Forida 2000 and Ohio 2004, despite the issues being caused in Democrat controlled precincts.

Thursday Update: Heh heh. Memeorandum catches the story. It’s nice to be ahead of the curve for a change
