where's everyone??! :-)

Hello,all!

GK: Hello appears to have arisen in its first instance as an imitation by hunters of a hunting dog’s yowl.Halloo, hullo, hello are a few of many variants that include the reduplicated hullabaloo.
-----------------

You know which word drives me crazy sometimes? It's 'Hello'...the word,a dread of which sometimes makes me put my cellphone on silent,or,switch it off. And,if the landline takes over where the cellphone left off,I go and sit at another table, just so that I can rest, err, work in peace!
----------------
Here are some of the Hellos and what follows after them, which drive me crazy.
(Point to note: Since I look after Purchase Dept, the average no. of daily calls is around 40..some days,it shoots up to 65+).
Regular readers on my blog must have seen my frustration vented out on this word, and, telephone calls, some times)
----------------
- Hellow,Mr. Amit. How are you,Mr. Amit?How's the family,Mr. Amit?
- Haaaaallllloooo!(That guy sounds like he's going to cut my head off if I don't answer)
- Yellow?(Ok,you love to yell, but, don't make it so colourful)
- Aaloo( Now,aaloo means 'potato'in Hindi)

Smart people have realized that it's better to say hello, and then ask 'Is this a good time to talk to you?' LOL.
----------------

How do I reply?
Good mood: Hello-w!
Better mood: Hell-io!
not-so good mood:Hell-o.
Worse mood: Hello, hello, hello, hello.(This happens when people ring up,wait to hear my hello to see how my mood is,and,I can hear only deep breathing on the other side.LOL)
----------------
Now,it's over to the others, for their versions of Hello. Loon Gal,Keshi-this time there's sooo much you can write on this word. I'm keeping the rest for part 2 of the post. Now,if you don't write, well,it's not my 'fault'!Touche!?

Now,that's a word even I can't find fault with,to make it,err, more funny. But, I really feel 'fault' is a funny word. I mean,it instantly brings to mind all the experiences I've had since the last few years, where 'fault' was everyone's favourite word, leaving me wondering whether anyone was at fault or all were at fault? With a smile, I realize 'none were at fault'.

At work:
In my previous company,me and a Brit colleague used to call every problem, the beginning of another 'blame game'. The ringmaster(Boss) would call the team related to the problem and the discussion would start, with all the self-righteous ones(supposedly) going red in the face, with their' I told him,he didn't get back to me', I asked him to do this', 'It's not my fault that he doesn't do his job', and, all due admiration to the boss,he'd be able to find out who the culprit was, and would end up giving him a good full volume shouting lesson.(Yup, the world out here is like that, unlike India, where, even though it's begun to be a dog-eat-dog industry, people still respect the next person).

Like, here, after such a discussion, people would be gleefully discussing between themselves how the boss 'ne uski chaddi utaar di'(The Boss took off the guy's underpants), in teaching him a lesson. (See pic on left for illustration)

Thankfully,I was one of the trusted few who was known to abide by the truth and never got a shouting, even though many tried playing the blame game with me.

The simple lesson(My first boss taught me this one) to remember is, work is like the game of 'passing the parcel'.When the music stops, you'd better make sure the ball is not in your table..if it is, you're responsible.(It's your fault, rather).

A suggestion(laughingly made): If you can't convince them,confuse them.
----------
In personal life:

LOL..I can think of dozens of 'faults'.

- You gain weight, you say' oh,it's not my fault'...I was ill/ I had no choice of food/it was too hot/cold to go walking/exercise/eating outside food is something which makes you gain weight...arre,man,why not admit-you can't resist that yummy gulabjamun or that tasty wada-pav? At least it'll make you feel happy. And, as a solution, begin keeping a diary-of what you eat during the day,and what physical exercise you do to work it off.
(LOL-a secret-now,the above dialogue was also to encourage myself, instead of saying to myself that 'it's my fault that my weight's gone up a bit, lately'..haha.)

- You get up late and are late for school/college- it's the alarm's fault..it's not loud enough/it didn't ring. Or, parents/partner didn't wake you up. Baba, if you're too lazy to get up on time, admit it...it'll make you feel happy, believe me,to face up to the truth, again!

- Overate? Feeling sleepy? It was all the rice and the oil in the food. LOL..why not admit it's your fault again- why didn't you stop when your stomach said 'I'm 3/4ths full'?

- When you're stressed out or angry at something/someone, the anger comes out on the unsuspecting person(BF/GF/hubby/wifey/kiddo/autorickshawalla/...) and you behave as if it's their fault. I especially see this in Mumbai in the evenings...people,tired out,are haggling away, screaming at the autorick guy that it's his fault that the meter shows a high reading, even though he's brought you by the usual route.

So, BUFers, next time you feel angry and want to burst out at someone, telling them 'it's your fault', why not think for a moment, and ponder over the cause of the fault? More than half the time, believe me,you'll realize it was your own fault.Admit it,and be cheerful. And,even if it's someone else's fault, but,it'll make the atmosphere better if you take part of the blame, partly compromising your ego but definitely not your dignity-try it once and see!(I did, that's why I'm saying this)

Now, if you say you yawned reading this post, well, it's not my 'fault'....with so many people still enjoying their Diwali siesta, I thought I needed to jolt people out of their ennui, and tell them'it's your fault that BUF is silent these days'...but, I just can't do it..grin...so, guys and gals, better post,or else my next 'word' is coming soon!Hello, are you listening????

(Quip for above pic: Life explained, using 'Light'(hearted) joke)

Hi,Everyone...how was your Diwali? Here's wishing you a scintillating,delightful,thrilling......New Year, and many more to come. I was putting together the 'light' post since four days, and wasn't able to compile it,for one reason or the other.(Read: Reason=excuse)...but,then,better late than never,so here goes:

Let there be light’!

Isn’t that a wonderful phrase? And, isn’t light a wonderful word? I’ve seen/ I see light in daily life as :

- Light at the end of a tunnel: Results coming up at the end of hard work.
- Light-hearted conversation, or, attempts to make a conversation light-hearted, as I usually try to do..LOL.
- Movement at ‘light’ning speed- like, he moves faster than lightning, when his GF screams/shouts.
- Phrase: It’s better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.
- Tripping the light fantastic: Dancing away, painting the town red.
- Greased Lightning (As the song from Grease goes)
- In ‘light’ of this new development, let us plan our next move.
- Light up, as in lighting a ciggie.(No, not me, tku..I’m just a silent observer and a passive smoke-inhaler..Arghh)

- Sun-light streaming through the bedroom windows in the morning.

It also reminds me of something I always wonder: At home,we say 'Switch on the light'(Light on karna,in Hindi)..is this the right way to say it? Or,should we say'switch on the bulb/electricity/tubelight'???

And, now, how about some bad’ lights’? Like:
- Driving through a red light: leads to hefty fines out here.
- A Red Light District,a la: Mumbai's RLD's in movies, or, Holland's RLD,which literally has Red Lights, like on top of a police siren, all around 'those' buildings,to warn the good ones to stay away.
Any more? Additions welcome,BUFers.
Till next time, cheers!Have a nice week.

Hi, all. After a brief forced siesta, courtesy ‘stressed-out’ stage, I’m back to blogging.

I thought I’d start a kind of tag here, using this nice word.(The first 'ring' is up in the cartoon) What I’ve done, and, what the next person has to do is, carry the tag further, till we reach Z.. And, all the words have to be ‘nice’ ones, full of, err, youth n energy.

The A to Z of (words beginning with or ending with) rings.

A as in Alluring:

eg: She’s an alluring beauty.

B as in Baring

eg: What guys love most girls to dress as, except their GFs/wives. (And, err, vice versa?)

C as in Caring

eg : What people wish their partners would be. (And, they are, sometimes..hehe).

D as in Daring(In Hindi, that’s Bindaas)

eg : Did you see that plunging, daring neckline of hers when she came to work today?

On to the next BUFer…should I nominate the next BUFer for taking the tag forward? No,I won't..let's see who takes the cue and moves forward...I'm already writing the 'light' post,as Uttsy suggested in her post.(Great topical idea,Uttsy..has some great connotations).

-------
Now, what else rings a bell in my mind about this interesting word? (Oh, there’s a ring in the sentence, too).

a)It reminds me of the following songs:

Ring my bell- Anita Ward

Brown girl in the ring- Boney M

b) It reminds me of a phrase: Ring in the New Year: As we shall soon be doing.

c) It reminds me of that cute nursery rhyme, singing which we used to dance, holding hands, as kids:

Ring-a-ring-o’- roses, a pocket full of …..

It would end with ‘we all fall down’, and everyone would sit down with a sudden bump. (Of course, now if you do that, i.e. fall like that, you’re likely to b-ring about a fracture. LOL)

Over to the next 'ring'er,nee, BUFer...:)Have a nice day.

Color…color…Isn’t it amazing, the variety of colors we come across daily, but, which we fail to appreciate because our mind is busy elsewhere? The first colorful post for this word, is an incident of today which goes thusly:

Red, nee, crimson: Color on the face of the lady sitting on the bench next to next to mine…why? Well, every day morning, while waiting for our co. bus, I observe that there’s a red-n-yellow taxi waiting for this lady. Today, as usual, she walked out of the building, in the blue-n- bluer trousers n Tshirt two sizes smaller than her, err, plump figure, white cigarette with light brown end burning furiously in her mouth(Probably a way to dismiss the day’s tensions or Wednesday morning blues in advance), and …voila, today, the taxi guy had left already(I saw him waiting when I reached, btw)…so, she shakes her hands angrily, dials a number on one of her cellphones(One was grey, one was dark blue), and starts screaming at the driver…’What time is it?’ He gave some answer ‘So why did you go? What 717 AM? My time is 730 AM’ –screams a bit more…then, ‘ ok, are you going to come or do I call your company and complain?’ I guess he said ‘No, I won’t. Be my guest and call them.’ And, that’s what caused the change in colour from normal to pink to crimson red on her white face, I guess.

Hehe..I felt positively tickled pink after this incident.. While she was still musing, my white co bus with Ebenezer transport emblazoned on it in red, arrived.)
I guess you can’t blame her for being off color. But, tell me, was she right to see red like this? Why do some people expect red carpet treatment always?

----

And, here's some 'color'ful jokes:
What is green and sings?
Elvis Parsley!
What is black & white, black & white, and orange?
Two skunks fighting over a basketball!

What is green & red all over?
A pickle holding its breath!

What is black & white & red all over?
A skunk with diaper rash!

What is a cat's favorite color?
Purrrrrrrrrple!

Before anyone goes Grrr! at these jokes, let me say' byeeeee'!

Hi,all, just thought of some more sparkles over the working week...As I always say, keep your eyes and ears open, and, ideas come naturally.(both good and mischievous,of course..haha).

As sparkling as:(Now,many of these are India-specific,hence,there're links, which are,err,Keshi-specific,and,for any others who're not familiar with our country's sparklers)

- Preity Zinta's smile in the first part of 'Salaam Namaste'
whether she's RJing,or, listening to Jaaved Jaffrey say 'Egg-jactly' or' The ghosts of the kicks not listening to the talks'(Laaton ke bhoot baaton se nahin maante')

- Vidya Balan's pearly white-all of them sparkle when she goes 'Goooood Mooooorning,Mumbai', in her role as a RJ in 'Lage Raho Munnabhai'( Hehe-even the IMDB article says 'great teeth')

- Birbal's wit in Emperor Akbar's court, when he was asked silly questions supposedly meant to trap him, but,he managed to wiggle out courtesy his wit. Like, when Akbar asked him, when they were out for a stroll:
How many crows are there in my kingdom?
Birbal: "There are ninety-five thousand four hundred and sixty-three crows in the Kingdom".
Akbar: How can you be so sure?
Birbal:
"If there are more crows than my answer, then some crows are visiting from other neighboring kingdoms".
"And what if there are less crows", Akbar asked.
Birbal: "Then some crows from our kingdom have gone on holidays to other places".
(Now,doesn't that remind you of school days?I'm sure today's school kids would just say 'arghh' to such a joke.)

Want more tales for ole time's sake?Read right here.
------------
Here's looking forward to the next 'word',Ishi. From the polls,it looks like 'color' is going to be THE ONE. Have a great weekend, everyone.Cheers!

Hi,all,

Courtesy the Sunday holiday yesterday, even I forgot a birthday dedication post. So here goes(albeit,a day late) a birthday wish in the form of a poem, for the two birthday 'celebrators', Michelle and Richa.

On your birthday we wish you much pleasure and joy;
We hope all of your wishes come true.
May each hour and minute be filled with delight,
And your birthday be perfect for you!
By Joanna Fuchs
Cheers and have a great year ahead.

My eyes 'sparkled' when I saw the word of the week, just when I was leaving from office, on the last day of the 'short hours' month. Wanting to start off on it'asap' (as Ishi suggested so nicely..*smiles*), with Notepad in hand,I walked absentmindedly but determinedly to the co. vehicle, and began noting the sparkles which I've come across till now, and, was able to think of quite a few- enough,so to speak, for the first post.

I love these sparkles:

- The way the water of the sea sparkles, when we're on the beach, with the sunshine making it glitter just that special bit extra.

(Note: I specifically avoided mentioning any of the sparkling heavenly bodies which sometimes float around on the beaches, especially in Dubai...err..no further details...since I haven't been there since two years)

-----------------

- Sparkl(e)-ing mineral water- which has a certain fizz to it- Perrrrrrier(I always forget where to stop the 'r') I believe,is one of the brands. It tastes better than the coloured waters which are sold in cans as fizzy colas,I feel..and,it's surely more healthy.

-------------
- Sparkl(e)-ing eyes- anyone who displays them, is a genuine person, is how I read it, and, I'm usually right- sparkling eyed people do have a zest for life, and, are usually pretty optimistic, as opposed to people who display eyes which are just too tired to even shine a wee bit, even in the morning. And,if the lady's sparkling eyes are accompanied by impish smiles..ooh la la..smiles and goes into typical Piscean dreamland...:)

(See pic:One of my favourite comic duos-Terence Hill's eyes-sparkling,just like his roles in the comic movies the duo did together.
(Couldn't remember a heroine with similarly sparkling eyes,yet..except,perhaps,Preity Zinta?)

------------
- Sparkl(e)ing diamonds- err, this one's for the ladies to elaborate on...personally,I haven't seen too many of them in real life(except those tiny tots in my ring),but, in movies- yes, even though I know fully well that it's glass and not the real thing, still, the eyes go wide, imagining the market of such a bauble if it was genuine.
------------
Lastly, my favourite pastime besides Scrabble, where English is concerned: How many words(three letters or more) can you make from a word, sparkle in this case, which is a dream word, since it has two nice vowels in it? I came up with:

Park, spark, par, rap, speak, ape, reap, pear, pale, spear, perk, leak, lake, leap, ear, are, lap, pal, ale, paler, lark.. still debating further... oh,yes ..... sap, spa, lea.....
Anyone wishing to add more, you're welcome.:)
---
Loon Gal, before you ask, yes, after all my thoughts were penned down,I did 'insanely' google'sparkle' to see if I could find some pics related to the word(I did find them), but, only in the images section...*whistles*..from sparkling sarongs to swimsuits to a sparkling spectrum of colours, there were vivid images of all the sparkles available in google's world. But,don't google the web for 'sparkle'-it'd take away the freshness of what one writes from one's imagination..correct?

Have a sparkling happy weekend,everyone..looking forward to some nice posts on our BUF,which really sparkles these days.Cheers.

(a)Fresh as:
Frisky lambs on a hill. Don't you find it a really 'uplifting'scene, to see the young uns gambolling on hillsides?

(b)Fresh as: The reverberating sound of a baby's laughter- at such times, you can't help but smile, however off-mood you may be.(PS The baby's courtesy google)

(3) (I feel) as fresh as ever(nee,no comparison to the other 'fresh' ones, after a month of reduced working hours(2 hours less than normal).Tomorrow's the last such day,though...then,it's back to the 8 to 530 routine. But,since I feel so,err, refreshed,I'm sure it'll be aok, except,of course, for the sleepy mood at 4 PM,for 3-4 days. Nothing to feel sad about-can always read a few BUF archives at such times(surreptitiously,of course) during the 5-10 min self-imposed tea break.(Breaks are a must,incidentally- to avoid computer vision syndrome, you know....it means, you can stare at the computer, but, not at the worksheets..grin..just a law I made!)

Three cheers for some great ideas from BUFers for this word(And,a few more to come till the 12.10 d'line,I hope)

Ishi, here's looking forward to the next 'word'.

Saturday, October 6, 2007

Hi, all. I was going to begin this post, feeling fresh as a daisy, in the early morning, but thought better of it, firstly, because it’s a holiday today, and my mood is as fresh as can be. So, here I am, in the late evening, penning my, err, fresh thoughts:(Pic clarification: I did not bake that fresh-baked smile(y)).

The word ‘fresh’ conjured up the following memories: (I tried to link up each one. Was I successful? You tell me, please!)

- We go , pick up a load of bread at a bakery, and ask ‘Is it fresh?’

Now, why do we ask this? Do we expect him to say ‘No, it’s not- it’s stale, but take it all the same.’
Now, why don’t we think of some fresh questions to ask instead of the above one?
Questions brings to mind:

-Those smart alec questions from a guy who thinks they’re farm fresh, but, which bring a fresh slap to his face.

- Face reminds me of nose, and nose reminds me of smell, nee, aroma- I remember another form of ‘fresh’- the aroma of freshly baked biscuits, near the bridge in Vile Parle(I forget- is it the Parle factory?), which makes me want to ask the rickshaw guy to take me straight inside the factory to imbibe the aroma.(I wonder why no perfume makers think of marketing this as a fresh scent?). Rickshaw reminds me of travel, and, travel reminds me of showers.

- So, there’s the re-fresh-ing shower I take, after returning from work, which helps to wipe out the day’s work related stress and relax the mind…the cool water droplets trickling down the face, the back,(Nee, no further descriptions.LOL) are enough to make me emerge from the shower, feeling in tiptop shape to go out for my evening walk, now extended to 45 mins minimum, since the weather’s improved.(touchwood). Travelling (From work) reminds me of holidays, and holidays reminds me:

-Fresh is how I feel when I return to work from a short/long holiday to India and especially to Baroda. I occasionally used to use the ‘fresh ones’ tissues, on sultry days. (Are they still available?). Baroda reminds me of MS University, University reminds me of :
-Ragging of fresh’ men in colleges- deplorable, but, also reminiscent of the most humorous of scenes was from ‘Munnabhai’, where Sanjay Dutt ends up giving the ‘fresh’ers a delightful time by making the seniors do the ‘chaddi dance’ after demonstrating his muscle-power. Munnabhai reminds me of the movie when it was shown on our TV channels, and TV channels remind me of:

-Fresh news, in the form of ‘breaking news’(I never understand- why is it ‘breaking’, instead of ‘red hot news’ or something? ) – news which ranges from a lady committing suicide in some obscure town of India to electricity getting switched off in some area of another town, to some old man murdering his uncle’s son’s daughter’s brother-in-law or something, to donkeys falling into a well. I guess they have to give some sensations in that ‘news bar’, so, they do, huh? News reminds me of crime, and crime reminds me of identification of criminals by :

-Their fresh footprints in the snow which help identify a murderer in crime serials, and, there’s fresh blood on the body of the murdered in Perry Mason novels.(My favourites).
Perry Mason novels remind me of how much I enjoy reading, particularly with :

-A glass of fresh fruit juice or fresh lime juice to refresh me while I’m reading, rather than having a cola which is acidic enough to clean the bathroom tiles. That reminds me, when I don’t have a glass of juice handy, I use:
-‘freshman’s chewing gum’ sometimes to help me concentrate. Gum reminds me of googlegum(Now, I just made that one up), so, I went to google, and found:
-Some examples of ‘fresh’ on the net: ( Google threw up 231,000 results, btw)

1.Fresh.com is a modern beauty care company

2.Fresh 102.7 FM, a radio station in NY.
3.Fresh FM: 92.7: Dedicated dance station based at Adelaide, Australia
4.FRESH: Foundation for Real Estate Students from Holland.
5.Fresh baked fractions: A game on : http://www.funbrain.com/fract/index.html

Brains reminds me of BUF, and, BUF reminds me of:
The best example of ‘fresh’- the fresh posts from BUFers, which make my day so regularly by their innovativeness, and the fact that each person has a unique, err, ‘fresh’ style of writing? (Thank you, all!). Of course, let me add, many posts on the individual blogs that I read are equally ‘fresh’ and often leave me feeling great to be alive(fresh? Hehe). That reminds me to wish you all:
Cheers. Have a nice, fresh weekend and a nice, fresh new week on Monday, when you read this post.

Hi,BUFers. A slightly different topic, but, I'm sure all of you will love to read it:

This was some news I just had to share with fellow/fellowine(feline?grin!) BUFers. It’s from an article I read in a local magazine, about the first ‘blook’ ever. Some of you might be knowing about it already, I'm sure.( I love the title- can relate it so nicely to BUF. )

They titled the article ‘mind blogging’ and very rightly so. Perhaps we bloggers should also, collectively put together an epic kind of work like this someday. (For eg. A book on essays on some of our topics- memorable train journey, etc), or, ‘human nature and bonding’, etc.*looks towards Ishi for ideas*

About the blook: 103 bloggers from 24 US states, and 10 from across the globe, created publishing history with a ‘blook’.Yes, there is an Indian whiz kid involved, too, from Oman- Arun Rajagopal.

The book is titled ‘The Age of Conversation’, and has been compiled based on inputs from all these people, and is co-authored by Drew Mclellan from US and Gavin Heaton from Sydney, Australia(Yaaay goes Keshi.grin), both of whom had never met. The post calling for authors was on March 22, 2007 and the book was launched on July 16, 2007. (Fantastic, isn’t it?)

Each author contributed a one-page chapter worth their marketing-communications expertise to help create better conversation among brands, marketers and consumers. The mix of writers- from marketing gurus to social media experts and from ad professionsal to T-shirt freaks.

The blook is about how various marketing disciplines such as advertising, digital, PR and journalism have to change the way they talk to their consumers to be heard. IT emphasizes that the most important part in a conversation is listening.(Ahem!)

Some conclusions in the article:

Blogging takes on a new avatar as a tool for dissemination of information.

Any company that ignores the blogosphere is telling it’s consumers that they don’t really care to listen.

Anyone with internet access can now reach an audience.

Over the next few years, we’ll see the blogosphere become more mainstream.

Whether the Age of Conversation has opened up a veritable can of worns or a cornucopia is yet to be seen.

The blogs of these two authors: (I can’t get to either of them .The connection times out):

http://drewsmarketingminute.com

http://servantofchaos.typepad.com

The website of the book:

http://ageofconversation.com

A point to note: The book is being sold, and the proceeds will go to Variety the Children's Charity , which is dedicated to promoting and protecting the health and well-being of children around the world.Variety reaches into communities across the globe to offer financial assistance and services to children and organizations that serve children with special needs. Variety strives to make a lasting difference in the lives of children, their families, our communities, and the world...one need at a time.

What do you say, BUFers? Interested in planning a blook, one of these days?

Today's the last day to post on 'posts I missed', so, here goes:

I've been blogging since Aug'04, so, I have a number of posts that I consider my favourites, but, it was this one(it was split into two, so,I've done a bit of editing to make it one post) that caused a 'khalbali'(sensation) amongst the regular bloggers in those days. So, without much ado, here goes:

-------------

(This post dates back to year 2004)
A MINI DUBAI BLOG MEET:

Thought for the day:Don't tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and let them surprise you with their results.

When one blogger meets another blogger,is it a blog meet?Technically,yes..So,finally,me and Manubhai decided to meet, since, for the past few weeks,we had been planning and planning, but,my workload didn't allow me. This time round also,we nearly cancelled it..why?Manubhai said' I'll call at 430 PM', and we'll go for a coffee...turns out,he fell asleep, and forgot...:)So,at 700, I SMSed him' Is it 430 yet?'....Immediately he called and turned up at 730, which was a twilight zone time, not coffee, not dinner time...

So,we drifted around Karama in his car, talking about bloggers and blogging..what a tete a tete that was(No,no repeats of which bloggers, which of their pros and cons(?) were discussed- that's privvy conversation, and might or might not be appreciated...ho hum.....)however, as a teaser, some hints:
We did discuss things like:

A is the friendliest blogger around

B is such a lively blogger

C is a bit too big for his/her boots

Isn't D too chaalu for words

Isn't E the cat's whiskers(Err,no,not those exact words)

F is the one having two blog identities

Will G ever grow up

Isn't H's writing ever so more mature since he/she got married

What do you think of the way J keeps cribbing in each post

When do you think K will return to blogging, in his/her own impeccable style?

Did you ever read L's adult blog?Isn't it a bit too much?Won't it be banned anyday,in UAE?

Even M's blog is like that, and since it's got graphic paintings, it's already banned.

N is the youngest blogger, yet see how well he/she writes each week.

Did you ever see O's pictures through the link on his/her blog?

Did you know that the blogger who comments with the name'………' is in reality no one else but P since he/she is a shy person?

I pity the poor guy who marries Q….he'll have to buy bales of cotton for his ears, to just keep his sanity while she keeps chattering away.

Talking of marriage, do you think R is any less? He'll drive his mate crazy with his nonstop bantering.

Hey, do you remember S' s blog? He/she was just too raunchy in some posts and some real life family/friends came to know of the blog…so, now he/ she's writing with another blog identity, aptly titled '……….', for want of anonymity. (*Silence, while other person notes down the blog title*)

My first favourite blogger was always 'T'. She used to write about her work/studies/home so nicely. Other person: Really? I must check out her blog again.

Did you know ' U' dabbles in the occult and has a dazzling yahoo groups page for the same? (Brr, went the other…noted down the blog id, just the same)

Did you know 'V' has a penchant for '18+' blogs?? Other person is astounded.."What? seeing her serene writings, I would never have believed it.

"Did you know 'W' was caught blogging at work, and was given a memo to stop, or else…….? That's nothing… X was actually caught chatting with 4 bloggers at work. YMming is banned there, ever since.

Y is really 35, but, on her blog, she displays her age as 25….Other : (Astonished): Really??But, I've seen her snaps…she looks more like a 30.

Z: is the only blogger whose blog helped cure my insomnia problem?…Other: LOLs….You too?
Every time I have that problem, I do the same thing..I visit that blog and fall asleep right at my PC table.

At the end, Addendum/Note: All Bloggers Names and Identities have been changed, and the initials in no way reflect the initials of these bloggers or their blogs. They are also changed for our well-being and to protect our lives.

I think we are missing out 3-4 other people, Manu,u know.....but,well, it can always be refreshed next time we meet, which as we were talking yesterday, should be quite soon, during the 'watching of the...............'..errr....details kept secret, as of now....
------------
(End of post)
So,what do you think? Does it prove that men also gossip, occasionally?Grin grin.

Aftereffects of this post:
-Most of the Dubai bloggers called us to ask which ones they were, with threats of 'we'd better be the good ones,or else...'.

-I was bombarded on YM and MSN with bloggers who were in touch with me, asking more 'juicy details'..hehe.

- On second thoughts, I think it's time to have another such fun tete-a-tete session, but, with a regular blogger or two or three.Err,Keshi, are you game?:)

Thursday, September 27, 2007

Since I now have an extension of a heaven(read: BUF team) sent opportunity to write on posts I missed, I’ve been pondering over the next one from the set of topics. Today, it’s the turn of my kind of music. (Buck up, I said to myself, you still have three more days to cover three more topics. Let’s see, let’s see)

‘Music has the charm to soothe the savage beast’, as the saying goes. Well, I hardly(rarely?LOL) classify myself as a savage beast(And, I hope, none of you bloggers classify me thusly, as well), but, well, music does have the charm to calm me down in the worst of situations, provided I force myself to listen to it in those situations, without throwing the music player out of the window.(Just kidding- I don’t have such a violent temper…grin…or, do I?*muses*)

Honestly speaking, silence is the best kind of music, I feel. But, this is on those rare occasions when my mood is totally oriented towards a craving for silence. Quoting from an article I once read, “There is silence before and after music, and there is also silence within music.”…err, that one confused me also. So, without much ado, let me go down memory lane with what has been and is ‘my kind of music’....

I think the current collection in my Creative(aptly named.grin) mp3 player says it all. What’d you say to a combo of:

Allah Bachaye(PKSE), chand sifarish(Fanaa), dus bahane(TS), Ek Dilruba hai(Bewafaa), crazy kiya re(dhoom 2), bad boy(PKSE), beedi(Omkara), kitne bhi tu karle sitam(Sanam teri kasam), soni de nakhre(Partner), aaj ki raat(Don), Jaane Jaan dhoondhta(Jawani Diwani), Ek sanam chahiye(Aashiqui), Pehle pehle pyaar ki(Great Gambler), Gum hai kisike pyaar(Rampur Ka Laxman), Dancing in the dark(Bruce Springsteen), Musu Musu(Shaan), Dholi Taro(Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam), Sajnaji vaari vaari(Honeymoon Travels PL), Patel Rap mix(Bali Brahmbhatt), The Reflex(Duran Duran), Ladki kyon( Hum Tum), Nazar ke saamne(Aashiqui), Tera Chehra(Adnan S), Tu meri zindagi(Aashiqui), You are my Sonia( K3G), Nimbooda(HDDCS), Koi nahi hai kamre mein( Dhoom), Paathshaala(RDB), O maajhi re( Khushboo), Shakalaka baby(Bombay Dreams), Let the music play(Shamur), yeh ladka hai allah( Hum kisise kam nahin), dum maro dum(hare Rama hare Krishna), Jeene ke hain chaar din(Mujhse Shaadi karogi), Chak de phatte( Khosla ka ghosla),....and, additions still in progress. (Keshi, if you want to listen, let me know..I'll send you links)

(Clarification: The pic below is not me or any of my friends.LOL)

You’d say’this is crazy’, like the guy to the left seems to be saying….yep, and that’s what I think my choice of music can be, sometimes…but, believe me, it’s still a nice selection to hear when going for a long walk, morning or evening. Each one has a tune of it’s own, a nice beat of it’s own.

And, how about jingles you cannot get out of your mind sometimes, like:(Please click on them and let me know whether they stuck on your mind too)

The Hindi jungle book jingle.
The Malgudi Days jingle.

English oldies: Right from the Beatles (Favourites: Paperback writer(but naturally), from me to you, love me do, hard day’s night..to John Lennon’s ‘Starting Over’ and George Harrison’s ‘Got my mind set on you’. ), to ABBA(Voulez Vous), BoneyM(Rasputin, Hooray hooray it’s a holiday, to name a few), KC and the sunshine band(That’s the way..).

Amongst the Hindi oldies: Kishore Kumar, Asha, Hemant Kumar(Occasionally)…
English ‘new’ies: Some of the Crazy Frog songs, for one.
Hindi ‘new’ies: As mentioned above, and, a few more, including A.R. Rehman(not all).

Basically, I think anything with a nice drum beat to it, is likely to be a song I like. But, ask me to sing along, and I’d go,err, mute…perhaps it’s coz I’m too conscious? Or, whatever..perhaps I’m afraid the cockroaches and ants(Nee, no goats or cows in the house to chase away, you see) if any(We had pest control done in advance, you see) would run away to the neighbours and harass them. LOL..

Anyway, so, that’s my kind of music. Tra La La La La.
Before I sign off, going slightly off track, here's a song titled 'curry and rice girl'that had me ROFLing.Hope you enjoy it,too.

Till next time, happy listening.

Tuesday, September 25, 2007

Oh,wow…being selected BUFer of the week’s such a thrill, I haven’t got over it yet. So, here goes a post of my choice. Hope you like it:

Do you remember the song(Inane lyrics, but, still…grin..translated to the best of my abilities for Keshi)

Ek Garam Chai ki Pyaali Ho(Let there be one warm cuppa tea)
Koi Usko Pilaane Waali Ho ( A lady around to help me drink it(ea))
Chaahe Gori Ho Ya Kaali Ho(Let her be white or black)
Seene Se Lagaane Waali Ho( She should be capable of hugging me)

(Crazy, says Keshi-wait till you hear some other songs of this sort from Bollywood, Keshi)

So, anyway, I thought it’s high time that I shared my experiences with my favourite drink- tea. So, here goes an educational, yet funny look at cha cha cha.

Does anyone really dislike tea? That warm, tasty, ubiquitous ‘cuppa cha’. In Dubai,be it 0530 AM, or 1130 PM, I/ you can see people proudly clutching that thermocole glass filled with chai in one hand, the second hand on their waist- I guess it probably gives them a sense of having conquered the world, and they feel that they are holding it’s most prized possession in their hands.

Remember the song’ Main aur meri cha(a)i aksar yeh baatein karte hain(Me and my tea-we often talk..)…ok,ok, that’s not the song…that song is ‘mein aur meri tanhaai aksar..…’

Some drink with a slurp(I tried,to see what pleasure a slurp of tea gives, but, couldn’t-how can you slurp when you are using a thermocole glass and not using a saucer?),some drink it in one gulp, some take their time, perhaps more than lunchtime, and enjoy every sip. The standard variety of tea available here is bifurcated into dip-dip/Lipton, Suleimani (Tea without milk), saada(Plain) which is the regular tea. (I’m not mentioning the with/without sugar variety).

Then, of course, you can go into a restaurant and try out green tea, herbal tea, etc. And, there’s the supermarkets, where you get a further variety of teas to suit all tastes, including rose tea, lemon tea, chocolate tea(UGH), et al.
In our office, I see Green, Mint, Camomile, Four Red Fruits(Yes, that’s the name), Earl Grey. (There’s also around 10 varieties of coffee, which seems to be quite popular Down Under, but that’s a post for another day(I work in an Aussie Co’s Dubai branch))

And, don’t forget the various brands, from Lipton to Brooke Bond to Twinings to ?? In fact, here’s a link for tea varieties. LOL…it says there’s something called Chai Tea as well. It says ‘Chai, pronounced with a long "i" as in the word tie, is the actual word for tea in many countries. Chai tea is quickly becoming extremely popular in the West as people are becoming exposed to it as lattes in coffee and tea houses. ‘And, there’s a recipe for making chai latte, too.

Tea gardens: I’ve seen only the ones in Kerala, and they were awesome, to say the least. See pic on left- Munnar tea estates.

That’s as far as Dubai is concerned. Gujarat(India) is, of course, is another unique case.

Tea here is:
- Normal, with milk and sugar OR plain with milk n sugar OR Golden(named so due to the colour) OR Masala Chai usually served at most of the tea larris.(See typical pic)
- Served in cups and saucers, so that people can come closer together, by sharing a cuppa(Doesn’t matter if they’re rich)..one drinks from the cup, the other slurps(And, I really mean SLUUUURRRRRPPPs) from the saucer.
- Drunk in different positions, besides the traditional sitting at table. It could be drunk sitting on the ‘jhoola’ (Swing) which is traditional in Gujarati families. Or, sitting on the ground, in a squatting position(Most workmen sit that way). Or, sitting with a stick in one hand(Like our building watchmen in Baroda do). Or, sitting in lotus position with the feet tucked in. Or, standing(When at the roadside dhaaba, on way to work from one city to another, with an abject lack of time).
- Used as a common medium to ‘relate’ while striking many office deals, during day or night.Like, "Let's settle it over a cup of tea".

I also love to drink tea from the railway station, which comes in an earthen mug, lovingly called a ‘kullarh’. Thanks to our Honble Railway Minister, this mug is back in vogue.

As for me, tea always used to be a favorite for me, right from school days, but, I'm now down to just a max of two cups a day.(Couldn’t relate much to coffee, somehow). Mornings always begin with a cuppa (!/2 a cuppa without sugar, in these days of dieting ). There was a time when I would begin the day with a small kettle(around 4-5 cups) full of tea. (ARGHHH- Can’t imagine how I did it, now). Of course, I haven’t really experimented with chai, nee, tea much…except for the regular variety. Probably because the taste of the other teas is usually bitter-er than the regular Lipton-types.
Still on teas, there’s a leisure website called’ http://chaitime.com/’.

There’s also the famous gesture from shopkeepers in Baroda, when they ask you if you’d like some tea. They shout ‘Do Chai laana(Bring two teas), and wave their fingers in a ‘V’ sign, to and fro. What it really means is ‘Do chai mat laana’(Don’t bring two cups of tea)- this customer is just passing time. So, you're kept waiting for the tea which never comes. One of my cousin's couldn't believe it,and I had to prove it to him in one of Baroda's best garment shops.

There’s some suggested funny phrases I found on a website, related to tea, which go thusly:
- Tea Bag(n): To dip your nutsack into someone else’s mouth... in a tea making process
Did you tea bag your girlfriend while she was asleep.
- Tea Bag(n): The bag you use to make your tea... not something perverted at all
I made tea with a tea bag this morning... (Nee,this wasn’t an ‘A’joke...LOL).

Whew-this post has made me long for a cuppa tea, even though it's nearly 0900 PM...excuse me.Anybody wanna share?

What else? Am trying to think of more 't(e)a-ntalizing topics'.All I can say is If you liked this post idea, don’t ‘tea’se me, just say so in the comments. 'Tea'll next time, byee and cheers!

Remember I was rubbing my hands I glee yesterday? I just picked the second topic that caught my,err, attentive eye. So, at the risk of sounding pompously boring or boringly pompous, here goes:

10 things about me: ( Some things might be slightly repeated from the intro post)

  1. I’m a typical Piscean, in the real world at one moment and floating off into a dream one the next.(When the going gets tough, the Pisceans get dreaming, as they say.)
  1. I usually suit the 3 Cs to a, err, T: Calm, Cool, Collected. Not much really ruffles my feathers, err, hair…but, then, perhaps it’s because my hair is somewhat curly and I never let it grow beyond a month’s growth. (I admire ladies n gents who keep long hair for this reason).
  1. As they say, when I’m calm, I’m calm. But, when I’m angry, it’s disaster…I better not reveal much about ‘those’ angry moments. Luckily, the anger doesn’t come out on people, but, more on myself and my,err, things….(Tsk, now, don’t go getting ‘A’ thoughts, I simply refer to belongings).
  1. I was earlier a total introvert. Since I came to Dubai, I’m more of an extrovert. From a quiet Engineering guy to a Purchase guy who talks to around fifty people a day on an average, it’s been quite a transition.
  1. I still take a bit of time to get used to people, unless, of course, they’re blog pals(Like the DBM pals I’ve met)…in such cases, it’s like I’m meeting LLF. (Long Lost Friends)…though, compared to the rest, I’m still ‘The Observer’.
  1. I love to walk…though the weather here till now was preventing me from long walks.(Sultry, hot). Now, with the weather changing for the better, it should get to be more fun....observing passing pulchritude, also out walking, is just a bonus.grin.
  1. I’ve done two massive diet programs. The first one helped me lose 16 kgs. (That was through Personal Point, in Baroda and I was their role model for ‘before’ and ‘after’ ads in TOI and Indian Exp. Grin. I had all kinds of people calling me to ask whether the ads were genuine. And, you thought it only happened in ads?). The second diet was last year, when I went on a total veggies n fruits diet, clubbed with hour long walks n exercise…that one lost me 13 kgs. And, some of it’s come back, coz I was feeling weak, this time.
  1. I love music- be it ole Hindi or new Hindi, movie or pop. And, ole English and (some) new English..depends on my mood. I’m constantly changing the songs on my mp3 player, to avoid ennui setting in.
  1. I love English..my favourite subject, right from school days. Sometimes, I wonder if I wouldn’t be happier if I’d mastered in English instead of Engineering?
  1. I’m a total perfectionist..as some of the other BUFers are…if I see someone else doing a bad job, I prefer to do it myself, and then tell them that’s how it should be done. Make that, perfectionist and neatnik- can’t work/eat/sleep if the surroundings are not conducive to neatness.grin.
  2. Oops…that’s it…Just one day more to ponder over posts I missed…*goes off to (a)museland*.

Cheers,people!

Can you imagine me rubbing my hands in glee? Why? Simply because the BUF team has given the freedom to write on past topics. Pity I noticed it just now, with just two days to go.So, without further ado, let me go to the first topic that caught my eye.

Memorable (Train) journey:

Have you heard of a train journey making a sick person better? This incident happened some(many?) years back.(Really jogging my memory for this one) I was in Std VII. And, in an ‘ill’ state. Ill as in, no doctors could diagnose what was wrong since three months, the fever et al just wouldn’t subside and things kept getting worse.

Trains and visiting Delhi were(are?yea, except the time factor) one of my favorite pastimes. So, on my insisting on going to Delhi, the doctors finally agreed, saying that the change of scenery might do me some good. I insisted on going by Dehradun Express, which takes around 24 hours even today, to reach Delhi, from Baroda. The longer the journey, the better, was the logic.(Arghhh…I just cannot imagine that today, when time seems to be at such a premium)

So, anyway, the day dawned, and, we reached the railway station, with me feeling slightly better already. Waiting anxiously, wondering whether the train would ever roll in, checking the signboard every few minutes, biting my nails till their very end(That’s not really a memory, I do it now when in India, so, I assume I did it then..grin).

Hooray, finally, the announcement was made and the train came in, and, as usual, everyone thought it would leave without them, so they rushed to the entrance of the coaches-err, second class, of course.( In those days, even looking at an AC/a 1st class coach was sheer torture, since it was beyond our reach) Anyway, even this excitement did a bit of good for me, and a faint smile came on my face after months, making everyone with me smile as well.

Finally, the train left the station, and in what seemed like less than fifteen minutes, it stopped. Voila- I was thrilled..the first station had come already and I had to get off and check it out, despite protests from everyone. Samlaya, Champaner, Derol, Godhra...I had the 'Latesht' timetable in my hands and, would proudly announce each station which would come next and say ‘tch tch’ by looking at my watch and commenting whether the train was on time, much to the amusement of my family and those around. (I think the drivers of such trains keep a lookout for a house on the way, and,if they see it,they stop.)

Then, of course, all along the way, the delicacies of the main stations had to be tasted, be it the bhajiyas of Godhra or the pedas of Mathura or the tea and spicy sev at Ratlam, to name a few. This, of course, besides the normal goodies from 'sellers' who’d keep wandering into the compartment with fruits and toffees n all. Thankfully, my family put up with my shenanigans, all in the hope that I’d be on the road to recovery, if I was allowed to do what I wanted, within limits.

Night time- we unrolled the huge(now extinct) bedrolls we’d lugged with us-cozy things they were, definitely, and I had a nice sleep(I think- no real memory of that)

Finally, nearly sixty or so official (And, nearly half of these, additional stops) stops later, the train rolled into New Delhi railway station, where my relatives were anxiously waiting, wondering whether I’d still be feeling ill. Imagine their surprise- when I got down looking fresh as a daisy, they asked ‘Were you really ill, Amit?’ In fact, my parents looked more tired and worn out than I did. Hehe….

BTW, if you don’t believe that such a long train journey exists even today, check out the link. . The train number is 9019. And, even today,it has sixty stops between Baroda and Delhi and 96 stops between Bandra and Dehradun. Perhaps we should reserve a coach in it one day and travel between end destinations(Wacko would surely agree). Only for BUFers and their spice, err, spouse and kid(s)...quite an interesting picture develops…*goes off into his Piscean dreamland*. Cheers!

Even as he was mulling over whether he should begin walking, he heard a rustling in the bushes near him. Shivering slightly, he said 'W..w..who's there?'...Silence. Mustering up courage finally, he decided to walk a few steps further . Hardly had he gone ten steps, and, the rustling came again, slightly louder this time.He looked back longingly at the brightly lit thoroughfare, knowing fully well that he had to go further without turning back,if he wished to remain alive. Finally, he decided to face the' intruder' head on, and he barged into the bushes. Nothing could have prepared him for............

Topic: Your addiction in life.

I firmly believe that addiction(of the good type only..grin) is what keeps one going in life. So, let me recount the previous addictions and the current one.

First, back in school days, I had the addictive hobby of making penpals- I made the first two penpals through the IYS(International Youth Service), one from Austria and one from Australia(Believe me, they’re still in touch- will do a post dedicated to them one of these days, since they read my blog occasionally…after asking their permission, of course..grin). ..even met the Austrian one and her husband, three years ago. Then, there were three penpals from Brazil(One is still in constant touch)- Rio De Janeiro, to be precise, then, Trinidad & Tobago, Germany(My whole circle of friends in school fell for this lady when they say her snap..hehe), a whole lot from all over India….no prizes for guessing that my best friends in those days was the postman who would bring letters, photos, small gifts, etc from these lovely people.

Second, there was DXing- that was the hobby of shortwave listening(in the days of only Bore, nee, Doordarshan for TV entertainment and no FM, either). Me and this college friend had a sort of competition between us, on who heard the maximum radio stations from around the world – there was Radio Australia, VOA(Voice Of America), Austria, Deutschewelle, Belgium, even Radio Pakistan…every spare moment, day n night, besides studies, would go in craning the neck and straining the ear, next to the ancient shortwave radio- sending reception reports to these stations, would get us what were called’ QSL cards’- greeting cards of the country, with a confirmation of your report being accurate. The report used to be in the form of a SINPO (Signal, Interference, Noise, P(I forgot what this was) and Overall score, with a brief report on the program to justify to them that we weren’t just kidding. They’d also send pennants, badges, tourist brochures of their countries and we’d dream of the , err, dreamy places.

Then, third began the addiction of reading writing to magazines and papers- LTTE(Letters To The Editor) became my craze, alongwith entering caption contests…collected quite a few useful n useless prizes on the way- like dozens of audio cassettes, pens, a tape recorder, pocket calculators(A novelty back then, when India had not gone global) to name a few. Citadel, Pune(I love that mag) invited me over to Pune to do a stint with them, in a ‘report on the reporters’ kind of article- investigated a murder, had free eats at a restaurant which they reviewed, attended a photo shoot with Rachel Reuben present, etc. (I have that on pdf, if anyone’s interested.:)) I got the nicest compliment from them in their intro to my article- it termed me ‘India’s most prolific letter writer’(Ahem!)…..even got a nice fan following and some are still friends, scattered around the world …but, then, all good things must come to an end(Though, I’ve never allowed this addiction to end), so, I had to mellow down my writing, after I came to Dubai. I still write to ‘Open Space’ (Sunday TOI), Filmfare, and a few others, but, it’s not the way the ‘addiction’ was in those days.

Fourth, after reaching Dubai, the addiction was work, for the first company I was in- first, learning the ropes about the workstyle here, then, dealing with oodles of suppliers for our project requirements…it reached a stage where I stopped taking days off- would go to work even on Fridays, from 11 AM to 4 PM, would eat, sleep, dream work…if I got up late, I’d catch the first bus at 6 AM and be in the office(I had a key)…LOL… on top of that, the Boss once told me, just after I had joined ‘Why do you smile so much? I don’t like people who smile so much- they are not serious about their work’….as they say, ek woh din tha, ek aaj ka din hai(The day I quit that job after 4.5 years)- I never smiled in front of him, in spite of him doing his best to crack jokes to make me laugh…grin grin.(I’d smile internally, but, externally, it would be the same serious face as in my intro post photo..hahaha.)

Fifth, now, of course, the addiction is blogging…the eyes and ears are always open, whether at home, in the restaurant, at work, everywhere, for topics, for humour, for incidents…and, incidentally, this is the first hobby which is still at an all-time high, even after four years. (All the others peaked at four years…perhaps because four is my lucky number?)…I already wrote the next part of this, in my post on how blogging has changed my life..:)

Then, there have been the 'continuing' addictions of good music, being in luv( I see eyes going wide here), tea, losing (n gaining..LOL) weight(Separate topic, deserves a post- have lost 14 kgs, twice), et al.

On the flip side, I have never been tempted by the real addictions- smoking, drinking, drugs.Touchwood.

Cheers, everyone, and have a great weekend.

Hey,wow! Finally,I got an invite from BUF. (My reaction on receiving the email)I've been reading posts, commenting on posts I enjoyed(Read: All ) ,and, thoroughly enjoying the lively 'atmosphere' which runs all round, from the very first day that I came here. And, whew! Just at the right time- when comments are being reserved for ‘members only’.(Oh, my, we’re exclusive- I must boast, err, post about this on my regular blog).

From amongst the members of BUF, I’m already a regular ‘friend’ly visitor to Keshi’s blog.(In fact, I got the link from her blog, and, asked her to put in a good word for me(Influence in high-up places always helps, na?), to get me a quick membership).

Then, there’s others amongst you all -Wacko, Loon Gal, Ishita, et al, whose blogs I’ve been visiting as well, on my eternal bloyage(Blog Voyage) of discovery . So, let me just say, ladies and gentlemen(Should I say gals and guys, I wonder?*Muses*), I’m thrilled to be here.

------------
Current topic: How has blogging changed your life?

I wrote my first post on rediffblogs four years ago. In 2003, I had been missing my hobby of writing to magazines and papers, ever since I had arrived in Dubai, since either mags and papers here were(are) double or more of their price in India, or, they were not available. Suddenly, one day, I saw a link in rediff, titled’ blog’, and, out of curiosity, I clicked it, and went to their section called ‘sizzling blogs’.

One thing(Read’ click’ ) led to another and very soon, I was poring over posts, nee, articles I should say, that I never imagined existed- people were writing about everything their hearts desired, from their experiences in college, at work to their experiences dissecting people in the course of their medical studies, to their experiences in showers- and, it convinced me to try my hand at blogging. And, there’s been no looking back, so to speak. How has it changed my life?

Well, for one, making so many friends from all over our great country and, from around the world, first via comments and other blogs, then, interacting via emails and messengers.

Sharing thoughts and feelings- be it in happiness or sadness, it’s great to know that ‘someones’ there’, besides family and regular friends circle)- in fact, it’s easier to share feelings on blogs and with blog pals, sometimes.

It’s helped me become more extroverted(As I said, I’m still a better listener than a talker)

It’s kept me in touch with the subject I love- English, and heaven knows, I needed that, looking at the megamix of languages out here, which always batters my English.

Last but not the least, blogging makes me look forward to each day, in a way- waiting to log on, waiting to blog-surf, waiting to see who’s commented, waiting to see who’s written what(About whom and where, sometimes. Grin).

So, here’s wishing the WWW and blogworld a long and happy life. Cheers.
