220 Tamils in Boosa detention camp

About 220 Tamils, men and women are being still detained in the Boosa detention camp in the Galle town in the southern province under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA). A Tamil woman of Dematagoda in Colombo city was released Sunday after 86 days in Boosa detention centre without any charge.

Ganeshan Sounthari aged 34 was arrested and detained by the Terrorist Intelligence Division of the Sri Lanka Police for allowing three Tamil women of Mannaar who returned from abroad to stay in her house without police registration.

The three Tamil women, Dilani, Rose Mary and her mother Sebastiammal are still being detained in the Boosa detention camp and being interrogated by the TID of police.

Meanwhile, a 22-year-old Tamil woman Suhirtha of Yatiyantota in the central province is being kept in custody in the Fourth Floor of the Criminal Investigation Department of Police in Colombo since her arrest during a cordon and search operation in Colombo.
