[TamilNet, Thursday, 30 August 2007, 06:58 GMT]
The Sri Lankan Military Command for Jaffna based in Palaali has instructed all the residents of the Peninsula, above the age of ten, to obtain a special identity card issued by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) before 12 September, according to a press communiqué released on Wednesday.

Earlier, the 51-2 Brigade command in Jaffna city had ordered the residents, above the age of ten, living within the municipal limits to obtain such identity cards. But, now the Palaali command asked all the residents in the peninsula and in the islets as well to obtain the special identity cards.

Meanwhile, the SLA has already registered all the motor vehicles and the bicycles in the district and also collected detailed information about all the families living in the SLA controlled peninsula.
