cashU was incepted and launched by Maktoob in July of 2002.
The cashU card was born as a result of a survey that was conducted
by Maktoob, and whose results showed that only 13% of internet users
were willing to use their credit cards online. There was a clear need
for an internet payment solution, that tackled fraud and security
concerns; hence the birth and launch of cashU.
cashU Card is a prepaid Internet payment card. It has a cashU Account
Number and Password. The Cardholder can use it to purchase products
and services anywhere on the Internet safely and without worries.
The development of cashU provided the region with a key solution
for e-commerce. Through a payment platform that is built upon and
encapsulates the most sophisticated and up to date fraud prevention
systems, cashU reduces the risk of online payments and allows for wider,
safer and faster consumer participation in e-commerce.
cashU provides merchants with a solution where they can sell
their goods and services on the Net, even products or services
(such as SMS or ring tones) that require micro payments, with
both consumers and merchants confident of not becoming victims of online fraud.
cashU is now available in 28 countries around the world.
