Finding Key Accessories for Your Work Wardrobe

Help me find one or two "signature" accessories to make my boring work clothes super fantastic.

Having a work wardrobe as conservative as my Southern parents means you can afford to invest into some key accessories that you'll wear outside your nine-to-five —

Unlike your past title used to imply.

So sport some signature shoes for your corporate climb. Though not quite my standard four inches, these pumps are far from basic black. Called "toast suede," these gem-tipped peep-toes ($515, Neiman Marcus) will make you the toast of the office, balanced by opaque tights in winter.

Also, check this MICHAEL Michael Kors python embossed belt ($98, Nordstrom). Soft leather and powerful print, this belt is both "boss" and "lady," wearing right with any other neutral.

And your best accessory?

Your attitude.

XXXO,
K

Where Can I Buy Boot-Cut Chinos?

Anyone know a brand that makes low-rise bootcut chinos? I can find jeans in that style, but not khakis.

I can't remember the last time I wore the pants less than figuratively, but I can understand a woman's need for a pair of chinos —

Like if you work outside KRiSTOPHER DUKES, LLC's strict dress code of trashy lingerie.

Forego Gap and channel classic Jackie O via J.Crew. Their favorite-fit everyday chino ($60) is budget-friendly and boss as business casual.

Low-rise, bootcut cotton twill with traditional welt pockets that accent your tush, I'm checking their chinos in roasted pepper red, wondering if I could style them with silver heels, too, —

I'll need a few more ____tinis soy lattes to make such a large life step.

XXXO,
K

A Suit that Works from Flight to Meeting - Like You

I'm flying cross country for work next week, and I have to be presentable once I arrive (I'm going straight to the meeting from the airport—no time to change). Any suggestions for something that won't wrinkle too bad and will be comfortable during the flight?

My suggestion, lovely? Besides Botox?

Purchase a high quality herringbone suit. The wool/polyester blend is perf for fall, plus it'll keep you warm and wrinkle-free during your flight, and styling boss and business for your presentation. I love this menswear-inspired suit by Banana Republic ($296). Ignore the awkward model and check the details: the double-buttons, the rounded-collar, the wide-leg pants.

Style a jewel-tone jersey knit underneath your jacket, a carry-all to carry-on, and —

Get ready to get a raise.

XXXO,
K

Skirts for a College Student

I'm just dying for a few cute new skirts for the winter season to help give my boots some pavement time. I'm a college student... So where should I look that won't break my budget?

Life is short. Your skirt should be, too.

So show off your boss boots in a patterned mini like this tartan print ($50, GAP). Fully lined and made from stretch wool, you'll style grade A.

You could also sport a black mini that's equal parts classy honors student and sassy sorority sister S-E-X. And an above-knee pencil skirt in a classic camel will do you right, presently and post-grad.

No matter how you skirt, remember to fuel your college career with confidence—

And a strict diet of soy lattes.

XXXO,
K

How to Go Gossip Girl

I am 15 and moving to a totally different state in about three weeks, only problem, the school I will be attending has a very strict dress code. Khakis, black or blue pants, dull plain colored polos... WHAT DO I DO TO STAND OUT!?!?

Style Gossip Girl and dress up your private school prep with some fab foot gear and accessories.

Forget military matching — your uniform's already strict enough. Pick a pair of embossed, boss heels that will add height and texture to your daily duds. These four-inch mary janes ($115, Victoria's Secret) would be a luxe, liberal punch to your school's conservative code.

Also, try a blazer in a head master head-turning color like purple or cobalt blue, and make it your trademark. Work everything else around that — one day wear a fun headband, the next a necklace, and always sport —

An attitude.

Can I Copy My Coworker?

My coworker has a really cute sweater that I want as well. Is it bad if I were to get it?

Go on and get it, and style it your own.

But.

Any girl can copycat a coworker or style the same as a store window model, so why not set yourself apart from your competition coworker by styling fingerprint unique? It doesn't take one-of-a-kind couture to do so. Check this cropped cashmere cardigan with silk sleeves and satin belt ($118, Victoria's Secret). Sport it with your best jeans, rock it with that vintage little white dress you discovered.

You'll only ever rate second best trying to look like someone else.

And you're too hot for that, anyway.

XXXO,
K
