I felt once the deep. by ~Gatoi 1 week 5 days ago

A more 3D take on a 2D genre! Take a look at how `Gatoi transformed a screen shot from the popular Samurai Champloo into an almost touchable likeness of the main character, Mugen. With a minimum of details to depict Mugen's deep blue slumber, the background is still very much alive.

You definitly got to check out Kamelot. I don't know all the nationalities to the bandmembers, exept from the vocalist, who is Norwegian. They play power metal mixed with symphonic metal or something:P

I'd also like to recommend Epica, a dutch symphonic metal band. I totally love their newest album, The Devine Conspiracy

Do you like the mentioned bands above? Do you have any recommendations within the metal genre? Do you simply have any comments? Please post^_^

Yeah, Nightwish is pretty good. I have to hear something with their new vocalist; haven't downloaded anything yet...

I haven't heard of Shadow's fall before, definitly going to check it out:)

Another great band is Pagan's Mind. They play prog. metal. The vocalist reminds me of Iron Maiden's, but I think PM's is better;P

Have any of you heard about Apocalyptica? They're famous for playing Metallica with four cellos! It sounds amazing... Here, check this out: http://youtube.com/watch?v=xqUXDdJ3C-c

Nah dir in grey isn't metal for me~~
- a pretty clasical - Anthrax - has some metal songs-- one of my fav, bleeding through, caddle of filth.. etc etc-- there are so many- but to be honest i think i like more death metal than just metal :P

Hey there... I was hoping that there's a thread like this! :)
Well at first some recommendations for the thread starter:

If you like epic metal, like Kamelot and Epica you should check out some of the following bands (the MySpace sites is your first place to go!):

Sirenia - Nine destinies and a downfall
Same atmosphere as Epica, but more female vocals and I definitely love her voice!
I think their latest album is far their best! You should really try this! :)

Delain - Lucidity
Delain is a very new band from ... ummm ... Sweden, I think. They have no constant line-up so on their first release you have four different vocalists. But I like them a lot!
Probably one of the greatest newcomers last year! Check them out!

Well... my temporary favorite is "Lair of the Minotaur". A Sludge Doom / Heavy Metal band from Chicago. It's very dirty, angry and at least reaaallly deep!
If you like it this way, you should definitely give them a try!
Their last album is "Ultimate Destroyer" - fabulous!

best regards,
bearmann

Thx for the serious reply:P

I've heard Delain, but can't say I'm too impressed. I felt that they were trying really hard to copy Epica, but without success. They have really strong and catchy introes, though, and I think I would've liked them if I heard them before Epica.

I haven't heard about the others, so I'll take a peek^^,

Give them a try, next time you visit your local dealer ... remind my words. ;)
They make nothin' new that's right, but I think for their first Release (if you don't count the EP) it's really nice.

And as a further advice... check out "Dark Moor" - but their old albums! (till ~2003)
It's catchy power metal with a female vocalist. On MySpace they have only their new stuff - very generic with a male singer for me. But their old albums are great! :)

For exploring new metal bands I'd like to suggest www.metalcrypt.com ... they don't review *core, so don't search for this crap bands. ;)
