I've never seen the guy act...he looks quite Slughornish indeed.

Same here. I think those funny round cheeks and the slightly sad pop eyes do it for me.

O_o Didn't you two see "Bridget Jones"? He fits nicely into the line with Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon, Gemma Jones, Gary Oldman, David Thewlis... etc. A very established British actor from what I know.

A recent film he has been in (made in 2007) is "Hot Fuzz." Now that was a bit of a mad choice, but you'll have to see the film to see what I'm talking about.

I think "padding" is the key word, unless they want him to go on a gain-300-pounds diet for the rôle.

Helen McCrory has been cast as Narscissa Malfoy. If any one remembers, McCrory was originally cast as Bellatrix in OotP, but had to drop put due to her pregnancy. So she'll be coming back as Bella's sister instead. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_mrgreen.gif)

She actually looks a bit like Bonham Carter which is good. I just hope they dye her hair blond for the filming.

The actors selected to play Lavender Brown and young Riddle will be announced soon.

Here's the actress playing Lavender Brown. Her name is Jessie Cave and you can view her agency page here.

Cool! That's very much the way I pictured Lavender Brown! Pretty, but not too pretty, sort of vain-looking, but sort of plain-looking with nondescript brown/blonde hair and nondescript blue/grey/green eyes. She's sort of an everywoman type girl, but still kind of haughty and slightly pretty. Sort of "girl-next-door" Yeah, I don't know if that makes sense, but that's how I always pictured her, so good choice casting director! Lets just hope her acting is good and they didn't just cast on looks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Also, I'd just like to add that Naomi Watts would have been a much better choice for Narcissa -- based on looks alone. She is supposed to be as fair as Draco and just dying hair blonde or using a wig does not make someone fair. Naomi looks more naturally like Narcissa. But then, maybe they couldn't get her or maybe her acting wasn't as good as Helen's.

I can see why they originally cast Helen to play Bellatrix though, she looks like her! I just don't see why they were like "we should cast her as Narcissa because she was originally going to be Bellatrix but had to quit because of her pregnancy...well, we might as well cast her as Bella's sister because they look like sisters!"

Wrong. I'd like to advise that the casting director refresh their memory and refer back to HBP where JK clearly states that Narcissa and Bella didn't look the least bit alike and that Bella was "as dark as Narcissa was fair."

Also, it was a bit short-sighted to cast Helen as Narcissa, because now they can't use her for Andromeda Tonks -- a much better casting choice as Harry even mistook Andromeda for Bellatrix. Just my opinion.

That's a good point. Actually, I rather pictured Belatrix as "tougher" looking (more big boned, etc...) than McCrory. The finer bone structure is good for Narcissa, I think; but you are probably right that they will never get her to look like a real blond. At least most of the scenes with Narcissa in book 7 are in dim light. (So, do I remember rightly that they didn't include Narcissa in the GOF Quidditch scene? Too bad. Well, they can't very well leave her out of 6 or 7! Who would have guessed that she winds up more important than Lucius? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) )

Yeah, I was excited by the prospect of Naomi Watts playing Narcissa when the rumors first came out. It just seemed to me she'd be the perfect Narcissa.

I can see what you're both saying about dying the hair though. What if they decide to leave McCrory's hair as is, making Narcissa a brunette? In one sense, it's not as if her hair color is that essential to the character. On the other hand, both Isaacs and Felton wear blond wigs (both having naturally darker hair), so maybe they're just assuming to do the same with McCrory?

Whatever they do, I hope it looks good. Otherwise, I can definitely see her as Narcissa and by all accounts she's a very good actress. I've never really been that bothered by any of the casting choices so far (with the exception of Gambon in GoF), so I'm sure she'll be fine.

Watts would have been bitchin though! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_mrgreen.gif)

Double Posting Again! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_mrgreen.gif)

Casting Is Complete on "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"

BURBANK, California, November 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Casting has been completed on the much-anticipated sixth installment of the Warner Bros. Pictures Harry Potter film franchise, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." The announcement was made by Jeff Robinov, President of Production, Warner Bros. Pictures.

David Yates, who directed this year's summer blockbuster "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," returns to direct "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." David Heyman, the producer of all of the Harry Potter films, is producing the film, together with David Barron. Screenwriter Steve Kloves, who scripted the first four installments of the film franchise, is adapting the screenplay based on the book by J.K. Rowling.

David Heyman said, "I am really excited that David Yates and all our cast are back for the sixth film and welcome some wonderful new additions to our ensemble. We all share a commitment to Jo Rowling and to Harry Potter fans around the world to keep making these films the best they can be and, as we head into the final installments, I can promise that this level of commitment will not waver."

Once again heading the cast, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson are reprising their roles as young wizards Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, who are facing new challenges and dangers in the wake of Lord Voldemort's return. They will be reunited with returning Harry Potter cast members, including Helena Bonham Carter, David Bradley, Robbie Coltrane, Warwick Davis, Tom Felton, Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Natalia Tena, Julie Walters and David Thewlis, as well as Evanna Lynch, Matthew Lewis and Bonnie Wright.

Two award-winning actors are joining the film's all-star cast in their first Harry Potter film. Academy Award winner Jim Broadbent ("Iris," "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe") has been set to play Potions Professor Horace Slughorn, who gives Harry an old Potions textbook that had once belonged to the Half-Blood Prince, which proves invaluable to the young wizard. Award-winning actress Helen McCrory ("Becoming Jane," "The Queen") will play Narcissa Malfoy, mother to Draco Malfoy and sister to the evil Bellatrix Lestrange.

Additionally, several young newcomers will be making their feature film debuts in "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." Jessie Cave has won the role of Lavender Brown, who has eyes for Ron Weasley. Nine-year-old Hero Fiennes Tiffin is playing the role of the young Tom Riddle at age 11, while 16-year-old Frank Dillane is playing the teenage Riddle, who is already on the path to becoming the evil Lord Voldemort.

In "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," Lord Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and Wizard worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching.

Two-time Oscar-nominee Bruno Delbonnel ("A Very Long Engagement," "Amelie") will serve as the director of photography, marking his first Harry Potter film. He will be joined by returning Harry Potter veterans, including production designer Stuart Craig, editor Mark Day, costume designer Jany Temime, creature & make-up effects designer Nick Dudman, special effects supervisor John Richardson, visual effects supervisor Tim Burke, and composer Nicholas Hooper.

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" will be released on November 21, 2008, by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

This isn't a full cast list as Katie Leung has confirmed she will appear in HBP. And they can't have an HP movie without the twins! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_mrgreen.gif) Scrimgoer has apparently been cut though. Imo, it doesn't present too much of a problem as he can be introduced in the next film.

What's a bit disappointing though is that no names are given for orphanage kids, Hepzibah Smith, or the Gaunts. Will all these memories be cut?

Here's two pics of Hero Fiennes Tiffin (Ralph's nephew) taken a year or two ago from the film Welcome to Sarajevo:

No pics yet of Frank Dillane (teenage Riddle). But by coincidence, the adult pictured above with Hero Tiffin is actor Stephen Dillane, Frank's father.
