Buy & sell user-accounts for free

Tired of seeing the same old ads for accounts? Look no further because a good friend of mine has set up his site to become a full-blown auction house for character trading.

Right now there is a Druid for sale at $350. The classifieds system features profile-feedback, buy, sell and trade. What we really like is the cool hover-system that uses info from WoWHead to display relevant infromation about every item a character has.

Buy World of Warcraft Gold

Posted in Blizzard, Gold, WoW by jamie on the July 19th, 2007

A gold buying update. Many (all?) sellers have trouble delivering gold right now. This is because blizzard has issued a patch that delays all in game gold-transfers up to one hour. It makes it possible for Blizzard to intercept and confiscate gold.

Due to this, many deliveries are delayed and has to be resent. Many many gold buyers are right now complaining because they believe they have been frauded; that isnt neccessarily the case. Every serious company that delivers gold are trying their absolutly maximum to deliver their gold even if its costing them expensive extra gold for every order at this moment.

It is very probable that in the future gold deliveries will be done via some other means. So, if you bought world of warcraft gold in the last week or soo, please dont get all to worked up; it is a temporary problem that will be resolved!

WoWHead.com sold for $1m

Posted in Unrelated, WoW by jamie on the June 25th, 2007

The WoW database-site WoWHead was just sold to a company called ZAM media. Wheter ZAM / Affinity Media really is IGE or its parent company I will let my well-educated readers be the judges. Apparently there is a vow that WoWhead will NOT contain Wow gold advertisments or similar ads. That is a bit confusing, but I guess whoever bought the site wants a firm grip of the market.

Ofcourse Wowhead.com has and have had in the past a very nice alexa ranking and plenty of links. See for yourself at Alexa.
If you are interested, please see the sources. Especially the very interesting link at techsoapbox.com where Amid (a former IGE-employee) rants a bit about this entire business.

Two very interesting topics to read up on

Wired writes about voice chat in games:

But after a few hours he said he was getting tired of using text chat — and asked me to switch over to Ventrilo, an app that lets gamers chat using microphones and voice. I downloaded Ventrilo, logged in, dialed him up and …

… realized he was an 11-year-old boy, complete with squeaky, prepubescent vocal chords. When he laughed, his voice shot up abruptly into an octave range that induced headaches and probably killed any dogs within earshot. Oh, and he used “motherfucker” about four times a sentence, except when his mother came into his bedroom to check on him.

Voice Chat Can Really Kill the Mood on WoW

New York Times writes about the life of a chinese gold farmer:

It is estimated that there are thousands of businesses like it all over China, neither owned nor operated by the game companies from which they make their money. Collectively they employ an estimated 100,000 workers, who produce the bulk of all the goods in what has become a $1.8 billion worldwide trade in virtual items. The polite name for these operations is youxi gongzuoshi, or gaming workshops, but to gamers throughout the world, they are better known as gold farms.

Peons4hire goes M.I.A

Posted in Blizzard, Gold, WoW by jamie on the May 26th, 2007

Finally! Blizzard takes action against the spammers. No more unsolicited multiline messages!

As many of you know, the latest content patch, along with many great new content additions, contains technical counter-measures designed to combat in-game gold spamming. Our efforts to reduce in-game abuse and create a fun, safe environment for everyone are never-ending.

With that said, we felt that it was important to share with the community just how serious we are in our efforts to combat this type of abuse. Blizzard has filed a federal lawsuit against the operators of Peons4hire, a popular gold-selling organization which many of you have no doubt seen advertised. As part of the lawsuit, the operators of Peons4hire have been asked to immediately cease all in-game spamming efforts by all entities and websites under their control.

If this organization refuses to act accordingly, further legal action will be taken. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on the progress of this topic.

Read the offical note on the forums and join the discussion.
