[TamilNet, Saturday, 08 September 2007, 12:07 GMT]
Twenty seven government Tamil schools in Moothoor education zone located in areas declared by the Sri Lanka Army as high security zone remain closed. About fifty schools in Batticaloa district are also not functioning, as they are being used as shelters to displaced families from Moothoor east division in Trincomalee district, sources said.

Meanwhile, the education of children of displaced families brought from Batticaloa to Moothoor division for resettlement and being sheltered in welfare centres is being badly affected without schooling facilities, sources said.
