2 Tamil civilians abducted in Trincomalee

Unidentified armed men in a vehicle abducted two Tamil civilians from Uppuveli, a suburb in Trincomalee Wednesday night, according to complaints made by their relatives to Uppuve'li police.

One of them has been identified as Jeyaraj, 25, and the other a trader, 40.

The police did not reveal the trader's name.

Relatives of the abducted persons have also lodged complaints with the Trincomalee regional office of the Human Rights Commission (HRC) and the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) district office.

Uppuveli Police immediately launched an operation to locate the two abducted civilians.
