Both can be found in your Hosting Information email. Accessing your Toolkit as Account Manager In your Hosting Information email, you will find your Account Manager login and password. Your Account Manager login allows you to:
• View details for each hosting package under your account • Modify your account information • View a service history for your account • View a service history for each hosting package • Pay outstanding invoices online and in real-time • View and change all passwords relating to your account • Add a new hosting package to your account • Upgrade hosting packages under your account • Configure email addresses, spam filters and vacation messages • Configure web forwarding for hosting packages under your account • View usage statistics for data storage and bandwidth • View Urchin 5 Web Analytics reports In your Hosting Information email, you will find your Package Manager login and password. Your Package Manager login allows you to:
• View details for this hosting package • View a service history for this hosting package • View and change all passwords relating to this hosting package • Configure email addresses, spam filters and vacation messages • View usage statistics for data storage and bandwidth • View Urchin 5 Web Analytics reports File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is the method you will use to transfer files to your space at Ilisys. Before you can get started you will need an FTP client application. If you do not have an FTP client, you might like to search the Support Centre (www.ilisys.com.au/support) for 'ftp client'. For an FTP client to make a connection to our servers, it will need three pieces of information.
Username: the FTP user listed in your Hosting Information email Password: the FTP password listed in your Hosting Information email Managing your files Generally speaking, the contents of your web site must reside inside your www/ directory. When a request is made for your website, our server will look for an index page. An index page is the front page of your website and must have one of several names in order for your site to be served correctly. index.html is the most common name for an index page, but advanced web designers might need to use one of these:
index.php index.php3 index.html index.shtml index.htm INDEX.HTM index.cgi index.wml Removing this information page As you have not yet uploaded your website, you are now seeing this information page. If you would like to delete the holding page before you start uploading your own site, simply delete all the files that are in your www/ directory. Be careful not to delete the www directory itself. Using MySQL databases If you have chosen the MySQL database option with your hosting package, you may run a MySQL database.
MySQL username: your FTP user MySQL password: your FTP password MySQL host name: your domain name, prefixed with mysql. (eg mysql.mydomain.com.au) Using shared SSL certificates If you have chosen the Shared Cert SSL option with your hosting package, you are free to make use of a shared SSL certificate. If you would like to have files transferred to our secure server, load the files to a directory in the root level of your space named secure_transfer then email [email protected] asking them to move your files. Our support team will look over your files to check for any security issues and copy the files to our secure server for your use. If you would like to maintain your own SSL certificate, email [email protected]. A member of our support team will be happy to explain the necessary steps. Using the CGI-BIN directory You will find a CGI-BIN directory in your space. If you intend for your website to run any scripts, they must be placed inside this directory. Common scripting paths Listed below are the paths to some common files and services:
sendmail /usr/lib/sendmail time /usr/bin/time date /bin/date whois /usr/bin/fwhois [email protected] Email overview Most hosting packages deliver some level of email functionality. At a minimum, you will be able to configure unlimited email addresses although you may also have purchased email accounts. Email accounts An email account is an email mailbox, accessed with username and password. Email is delivered to your this account and stored there until you log in and check it, using either the POP or IMAP protocol. The usernames and passwords that you will use to access your email accounts may be found on the View/change passwords page of your Toolkit. Email addresses For people to send email to your email account, you need to have at least one email address. An email address is takes the format [email protected]. Here is a list of sample email addresses that you might use: Your Toolkit provides you with tools to create email addresses, and to configure what email account each address will deliver mail to. For instance, you will be able to have [email protected] deliver mail to an Ilisys email account, an email account provided by your ISP, or a webmail address provided by companies like Google, Yahoo and Hotmail. Every domain has a special email address - the 'default address'. This address can never be removed as it performs a vital role. Any mail sent to a non-existent address at your domain will be delivered to this default address. Email vacation messages Vacation messages allow you to send automated replies to emails sent to any of your email addresses. Your Toolkit allows you to create, edit and delete vacation messages. Webmail If you have chosen to add Ilisys email accounts to your hosting package, Ilisys webmail lets you send, receive and manage your email from a web browser. Ilisys webmail is similar to the webmail accounts offered by Google, Hotmail and Yahoo but has a distinct advantage. Emails that you send will appear to have come from an address at your domain.
