Cross Currents: Focus on contemporary Australian art
18 September - 26 November 2007
'Cross Currents: Focus on contemporary Australian art' is the third in a biennial exhibition series at the MCA focusing on mid-career Australian artists. Guest curator John Stringer has selected works by 16 leading artists from around the country for this significant exhibition, which encompasses painting, photography, sculpture and installation.
Established to profile the work of Australian artists who have developed substantial exhibiting careers of ten years or more, "Cross Currents" builds on the success of the MCA exhibitions "Meridian" (2002/3) and "Interesting Times" (2005).
Artists participating in 'Cross Currents' are: Vivienne Binns, Butcher Cherel Janangoo, Elisabeth Cummings, Debra Dawes, Stuart Elliott, Dale Hickey, Hilarie Mais, Helen Maudsley, Rosslynd Piggott, Tobias Richardson, Gareth Sansom, David Stephenson, Michele Theunissen, Karl Wiebke, Djirrirra Wunungmurra and Ah Xian.
