Please Join us in a Warm Welcome for Vicki!!
by GL_Support on 2007/11/29 21:59
Please join me in welcoming Vicki to the Guild Launch crew. Vicki is Guild Launch's new "Interface Designer".
What does that mean? It essentially means she gets to help us make everything look awesome. Vicki will be working to make of our features visually richer. Her primary focus in the near term is developing more templates, spicing up some of the site's graphics, and implementing some new template capabilities.
I'm confident that you all will see Vicki's work in more and more of our features going forward as she gets up to speed and she puts the creative output into high gear.
Vicki will be posting dev blogs at the location below and will most likely be saying her own hello soon.

DOWNTIME: Friday 11/30/2007 - Guild Launch
by GL_Support on 2007/11/29 16:56
We will be extending the morning downtime on Friday morning by about 1.5 hours. The downtime will last from about 6:00am EST to 8:00am EST. I expect the system to come back up sooner, but that timeframe gives us some room to work with.
This extended downtime is so that we can move the existing Guild Launch database to the new database server. This will move us one step closer to being fully on the new hardware.

UPDATE: Guild Launch 3.0 Now on Beta Site!
by GL_Support on 2007/11/27 14:43
Beta Announcement
Greetings everyone, the Guild Launch 3.0 release is now on our
beta site at: http://www.guildlaunchlabs.com/
You can use that site just like you would your current site and test out the new release. This release has alot of new functionality with sizeable database changes to support rapid raid pools and multiple widgets so we are being extra careful to let you all get a chance to look over the release.
Major Features
Multi-Widgets
The same widget can now be added multiple times to your site with different configuration for each widget and different titles if you wish. This will allow you to use multiple HTML widgets for instance.
Rapid Raid Pools
You can now create multiple independent pools of DKP. This way you can track 25 mans seperately from 10 mans or track one raid group seperately from another. Each Pool has unique configuration. In addition you can move raids from one pool to another.
Along with this feature we also added the ability to merge two characters DKP. You can select one character and transfer all DKP data to another character.
Greater DKP Auditing
There is now an "Event List" on rapid raid. It lists all events that have occured in the system. When viewing a character's DKP profile you can now click the event names and view a list of all occurences of that event with a checkmark for the ones that that particular character attended.
New Hardware
A large part of this release has been getting ready for our new hardware. Guild Launch will be moving in the next week to our fully load balanced hardware with a much more powerful database behind them. This new architecture will give us alot of headroom for growth and improved performance.
Enhancements
- Raid signups have been enhanced. If a person removes all of their signups they can add a note. The removed signups are now seperated from the active signups and the notes now show hidden by default and can be expanded to read them.
- PMs Can Now be Forwarded
- Characters with the same name in the same game on the same server can no longer be added multiple times to a guild. This will keep a player from adding the same character that has been imported or added by the guild master.
- Ventrilo servers now have an easier upgrade path
- You can now see your PayPal subscription info on your profile.
- A guild with an active PayPal subscription can no longer be deleted
- World of Warcraft Guild Banks can now be uploaded into the guild bank area.
- The decimale places for rapid raid exports are now fixed at two places.
- A users signup date is now shown in admin. Some users signed up before we started tracking this info and will show up as "N/A".
- Users will now receive a more detailed message when they recover their password.
- The "Add Event" page in rapid raid has been optimized to be easier to use.
- You can now change the date on an event in a raid.
- "Seperator" instructions can now be added to the custom application type.
- The ability to disallow members from adding characters to the guild has been added.
- The "Apply to Guild" link can be disabled by turning off recruiting in Admin, but you can still directly link to the recruiting page at any time.
- The IP of a guild applicant is now tracked.
New Widgets
Google Gadget Widget
Google Gadgets can now be added into a widget called the Google Gadget Container.
Bug Fixes
- PMing your whole guild will no longer result in a message with multiple copies.
- A broken link on the user profile has been fixed
- A guild's custom CSS is now properly loaded into the shoutbox.
- Hover mouse overs in the right widget column will now be moved more to the left so they are readable.
- The last post link now goes to the correct profile.
- The links in forum quotes are now more readable.
- When creating a new event at the same time as adding it, you will now have the ability to choose whether the event is zero sum or not.
RESOLVED: Can't connect to MySQL server

I apologize for the unannounced downtime. I was trying to tweak a performance setting on the database and I brought the database process down accidentally and it was down for about 3 minutes. No damage was done other than to my ego. Sorry for the inconvenience.
