1. Teddington

From: James and Natalie

We’ve lived here for nearly 3 years.

We love Teddington for the convenience of travel - 1 hr by train to Gatwick, less by bus to Heathrow, easy access to central London and just over an hour to the South Coast via the M3.

Teddington has a multitude of good restaurants and pubs, and the open space of Bushy Park and the river walks are very convenient, and great for cycling.

We believe no area in London could beat the 'feel good factor' of walking down Teddington High Street with our 3 year old on a sunny day to feed the ducks in the Thames, and back for a quick play in the park before getting a bite to eat in one of the child-friendly restaurants.

2. East Finchley, N2

East Finchley in London N2 has been transformed over the past five years.

The high street has everything you could ever need; there are several gastropubs, great restaurants and a good range of shops.

There's Cherry Tree Woods and Hampstead Heath for green spaces. We even have a farmers' market twice a month at the local primary school.

We are lucky too as we are surrounded by other lovely areas to visit - just down the road from Highgate, Hamsptead and Muswell Hill.

We have lived in a flat in Leslie Road for over three years and been really happy here. They are large flats with decent sized bedrooms and everyone has their own garden.

London N2 is definitely worth a look if you are on the hunt for a two bed place.

3. Osterley

After much hunting, I finally purchased a superb 2 bed flat in Braybourne Drive in Osterley, Middlesex.

Must say, I’ve been here for about 6 months now and love it.

Osterley is safe, green, and has excellent transport links to the city (30 minutes to the centre of London).

It’s just a walk or a short drive to Richmond, Chiswick and Kew.

Plus there’s the blessed Tesco superstore.

What more could I want?

4. Wimbledon, SW19

From: Rachel Lewis

Sample property, Wimbledon (click pic for full details)

I've lived in the area between Wimbledon, London SW19 and Haydons Road for 8 years now.

It's a pricy area but worth it in my opinion to live somewhere so pleasant and with such great transport links.

I get a seat all the way from Haydons Road BR to Farringdon, then 2 stops to the City. So much less stressful than standing up on the tube!

South Park Gardens and Garfield Road Park are a few minutes walk away and it's a pleasant stroll down the leafy back streets to Wimbledon Village with all its bars, cafes and boutiques.  Wimbledon itself has many restaurants and bars and a great shopping centre.

I've lived in 5 areas in London both north and south of the river, and Wimbledon is the best by far...
