June 28,2007 - Yesterday afternoon CSAIL had a chance to honor its outgoing Director, Rod Brooks at an ice cream social. The social featured a video of Brook's accomplishments, which ranged from professorships, authorships, new innovations in robotics, and one staring role in a movie. (more)

In the News:

Drivers Unwanted: MIT 'Robocar' takes a spin: A team of MIT faculty and researchers including 20 students are working toward what could be the car of the future: a vehicle that drives itself, with people as passengers.

Last week the team tested its vehicle during a site visit by personnel from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), which is funding the work through the third DARPA Urban Challenge competition. (Read the MIT News Office Article)

CSAIL Students win MEMOCODE 2007 Contest:

Congratulations to Murali Vijayaraghavan, Nirav Dave, Myron King, Elliott Fleming, and Michael Pellauer. (left to right in photo). The design challenge of the contest was to implement a high-performance Matrix-matrix multiplication (MMM) using any HW and SW design methodology and targeting any FPGA development platform of the contestants' choice (More about the contest.)
